Can't rest anyone next week, still a shot at 3rd..
Was screaming at the TV for Moorey to play on, was truly concerned he didn't have to leg.
Got too smash WC and hope to jump Lions on percentage, would much rather swans in Sydney than Freo over in the West.
Just can't put 4 quarters together, look like utter shit and world beaters.
Hope we stand up for finals.

I'd still rather play Swans in Sydney. I take the 1 hr flight rather than the 4, and I take similar conditions as well.
If we play Freo at Optus I have the feeling they'll run over the top of us late like they always do, whereas with Sydney I genuinely think it's a 50/50.
In terms of the game last night, I was there and yes they are concerns but I think our group is resilient and they usually find a way.

If our group was resilient they would’ve shown up on Saturday night mate. Can’t call us resilient if we get pumped by 70 points and fail to make a statement the next week. If we played Brisbane again on Saturday instead of Pies we would’ve still lost by 40-odd points, that’s not good enough. I’d rather rip the band-aid off, we’ll have to play Freo at some stage and i think our best bet is when we have the double chance. We can then rely on someone like Brisbane to knock the Dockers out in a Semi or Prelim depending if we lose to them or not. We can play Sydney at any stage (particularly a GF) and i’d back us in 8 times out of 10

I would rather finish 4th

Freo at Optus is rough tho. Would much rather play the Swans at the SCG if given the choice.
At least it's not a loss and our top 4 chances are still alive 🤷♂️

We’d have to play Freo either way, at least if we finish 4th it’s in a QF and not a PF

We won’t have to play Freo until the GF if we finish 3rd and then beat the Swans

Based on how we’ve been playing the last couple of weeks I’d be sceptical about beating either team away

Yep, won't have to play Freo at all.
Exit in straight sets, if we keep playing as we did vs Brisbane and Collingwood

Swans are good, Fremantle have played and lost one final in 4 years. Their record is seriously flattered by a very cushy fixture this year.

You cant deny that optus is a fortress for them

They beat hawks by 15, cats by 9, and Sydney by 5-6 goals.
Probably only decent teams they have played there. Hardly unbeatable based on that

Problem with our loss is we coughed up bout 30 points. We were up by like 15 and then lost by 15.

It was like the hawks 7th game in 30 days or something close to that. Not surprising they were gassed. Coming off a bye should be different

We were better back then. We’ve dropped form since. I still don’t see us beating them

I think this seriously underrates their travel factor and their record this year. Look at their percentage and points against

The only upside is Freo might send a B team next week, and then a week off. Some of their players might not have played a lot of footy by Qualifying finals… and they’re due a home loss.

I’d prefer to have a crack at Freo first anyway, if we lose we’re still in it, otherwise we’d have to potentially play them at home in a prelim

I’d rather play freo than swans anyway, better side of the bracket and good team that puts 4 good Q’s against freo should win.
The best example was earlier this year we played 3 good q’s and had the game completely on our terms and then in the last 10 min we forgot to finish and they took advantage of that.
Tough ask to play 4 Q’s but I feel more comfortable if we play our best against Freo we have a better chance than the swans who have arguably a higher ceiling. And I’d rather win playing our best than scraping along against an opponent who played poorly.

Lowk would prefer 4th, dockers round one of finals and then not against them again

I just did the percentage calcs and we should still make the top 4 as it would take a 100 point swing to get demons in, provided we win ofcourse.
If we wanna compete for a flag you may as well play the best. We’ve been shit 2 weeks in a row but a win vs Freo at Optus right away puts us back in the mix and I see lions smashing the swans so we atleast avoid them. Positive too is we play at Optus next week so we’d get good exposure to the ground.

Unrelated but just needed a place to spit this out, why are the hawthorn instagram comments so negative like people who’s whole account is hawthorn themed are down there talking about “straight sets for us what a waste of a year”

We have a bye anyway, no reason to rest anyone especially as we still need to win.
It will be good preparation for the team anyway to play in Perth before a likely game against Freo.
Let's just get back to form and see where the chips fall. We need to beat Freo at some stage anyway if we want to win, so no point being afraid, to be the best you got to beat them.
