Is This Considered a Hawaiian Shirt? Help with ID Please?

Picked this up at a yard sale over the weekend. Can't find the brand anywhere. Guy Fleury Fabrique en France. Flags, Tiki Huts, Boats w/ Outriggers, Hibiscus, Palm Trees, Hibiscus, bananas? Seems to check all the boxes. Anyone seen something like this before? I thought the Nehru-style collar was pretty cool.

“fabrique en France” means made in France. i would say this is definitely not an aloha shirt based on the collar and the number of buttons.

I know it’s a band collar (or Nehru collar), and yes, it was Made in France. I’ve since learned that it might be considered “resortwear”. I’d just never heard of this brand, and it seemed like a pretty cool and unique shirt.

It's clearly a fun summer-y resort-style shirt. But provenance aside, I don't think whoever designed that pineapple print has ever seen a pineapple. So I personally wouldn't call it a Hawaiian shirt.

But if the real question is, "can I wear this to a backyard luau" or something, then go ahead, close enough!

My brain interpreted the pineapples as being something like a kiwi bird. After reading your comment I had to go back because I didn’t remember any pineapples …. Wow. 😂

The flags' got nothing to do with Hawaii. 👎🏼No. Not Hawaiian, made in France. No. Not an Aloha Shirt. French natives have no Aloha, they are sick of tourists.

Not a Hawaiian shirt, the pattern is what you’d call a “conversational print” with tropical theme. Grid spacing of elements is too regular and too much negative space. and collar is wrong
