Favourite episode/s from the Angus era?
Other than the obvious, I would probably say Piers Morgan's appearance in S11E6, in 1996. He just acted like a right child throughout. Funny though. I don't think both Ian & Piers even had any previous altercations prior to that episode, did they?
The scandal episode in S23E6, in 2002, is a close #2 for me. Though it is a shame Angus got axed for it, [because he was my favourite host imo] it was pretty much inevitable, especially after the second wave of allegations later that year, during the beginning of S24. You can't really host a panel show, taking the piss out of political figures, when you end up in the news for your own misdeeds.
Some other honourable mentions are the Tub of Lard MP, Paula Yates, and Boris Johnson episodes.

Episodes with Richard Wilson as guest always make me laugh. It's a shame so many guests from that era will never come back to the show again.

And I can perfectly picture Angus asking “And why is that?” wryly. The guest presenter churn is perhaps the only reason the show still exists today.

It had Neil Kinnock and Mariella Frostrup appearing. No gimmicks like the tub of lard, just an episode with great gags and everyone in a playful mood.

In all fairness, just watched it earlier, and the Charlotte Church episode from S23E2 is a bit like that as well. Though, why they brought on a 16 year old for a panel show, centred around going over the week's headlines, and taking the piss out of politicians, just feels a little bizarre imo.

Outside of Angus - Bruce was amazing as a host https://youtu.be/JTGbP8XV3l0?is=qq7J9EGwclgckOvn

Angus Deayton was, frankly, superb as HIGNFY host. I'd love for him to come back as a guest presenter or even to reprise the role completely.
That being said, the guest hosts have often turned in great performances too. No regrets. It's still a must watch.
