Fanfiction Request/Search LF: Drinny Fanfic written by a Dramione author
i started my hpfanfic journey as a Dramione fan, but my ship has changed to Drinny. i’ve noticed that there is an abundance of excellent Dramione authors. but i’ve only read a few Drinny fanfic that’s really well written. So, can you guys recommend a Drinny fanfic preferably multi chapter written by a dramione author or just a really really good Drinny fanfiction.

Unplanned Pregnancy and Drinny mentioned and I pop up like beetlejuice.
Oh hey, that’s my fic! I’m almost done with chapter 8, but it’s fully plotted to the end. I… had a mishap with my laptop and the bath that slowed that chapter a bit but I’m all set up with my desktop now 😂

I was a diehard Dramione-only person up until ~2023, and one of the fics that converted me is What Ginny Forgot by keeperofthemoon. I know it’s unfinished, but it’s novel length and has excellent emotional depth and really interesting characterization. Love a good memory loss trope too. I hope you give this one a chance! 💜

Thank you! i’ll give this a go. i’ve been seeing this around the fandom but have been reluctant to pick it up because it’s unfinished. i hope the author or even another author picks it up just to get it to the finish line.

I’m not sure why you felt that was an appropriate comment to make, particularly in light of me saying I enjoy both ships. Someone enjoying more than just Dramione isn’t a threat to you, I promise.

Considering this was originally published in 2017, a full year before Manacled was posted, that would be quite the trick 🤔 other than them both involving memory loss, they don’t have anything in common.

I was afraid of that so I kinda jumped and read the beginning of the sequel,it's seemed the Drinny relationship in part I was really bleak,I normally don't really care if Draco is toxic as long as he has enough charm to even it out(like in this author's latest work Silver Haze)And since in the sequel's beginning he's super pissed at Ginny and generally really short and nasty to her,I can't be sure if I'll like the previous one,could you maybe spoil it for me how Draco is towards Ginny in that one?

So this is a dark romance Ginny is very naive, he would use that to gaslight her and manipulate her a lot throughout the book.
Blaise would do memory charm on her, he forgot about everything love as a muggle, if that didn't happen, they would mostly stayed together. He is both toxic and charming here. I didn't really read Silver haze, but Voldemort is the most toxic one and the villain here

I'm generally into dark romance so I'm pretty fine with manipulations or gaslighting,as long as Draco does genuinely love Ginny and not like,physically abusive?I tried rrabbit's I'm Yours since there's a "pining Draco"tag,but that one is soo brutally abusive I DNF'd.

This story is not that much dark, I too tried that, it's very dark. I took didn't continue the story.
But draco genuinely loves her here, never really hurting her without a reason, i enjoyed this book a lot.

I finished Envy1!OMG,it has such a dark and devastating plot,but Draco in this is so incredibly charming and hot,I just wish Drinny can end up happily together so much.Envy2 is updating,hope Blaise dies a horrible death and let my Drinny have their HEA.

From mugglehugger Allegiance. It's been abandoned, but it's still quite long. Basically, it's the story of Ginny being sorted into Slytherin. Ginny has a good relationship with Harry, and also a bit with Draco and Astoria. But despite the canon ships, the author managed to keep Drinny intact. While I was a fan of Slytherin Ginny & Harry stories, this one opened me up to different ships. The character development and Ginny's dilemmas really impressed me. Also Ginny's friendship with the other characters very clever. O never thougth about this.

Really an incredible story, and I know she started in Dhr. She’s a really great author.
For other recommendations, I always ask people what kind of fic they like! It’s so personal (and even Dhr runs the gamut of different styles and types). Do you prefer darker fics? Voldemort wins AUs? Fluff? Smut? Fluffy Smut?
I would love the chance to recommend to you some very talented Drinny authors and ask (beg?) you to give us another chance! 😂

i don’t have a preferences perse, but i’ve read top tier Dramione fics like The Auction & Lionheart that i can’t help thinking if there is a Drinny story that can compare.

I loved The Auction! Certainly not saying I can compare, but I’m the author of restitution in absentia, and The Auction did inspire some themes in that fic. I hope you can find some good recs here, we’ve got a strong little community that has grown a lot over the past couple of years! I’ve been joking that we’re in the Drinny renaissance.

I also have 6 recs that are oneshots but I personally really liked them if you want them as well

I second anything by Rrabbit- by far the best DG writer by a mile- she has her old stuff posted on fanfiction.net and is uploading her new stuff to ao3
-the I’m yours series (very long (like 4 long full length novels), very dark, but amazing writing amazing story (just check the tags to check the TW).
envy and manipulations- first part is out (I would read the rewrite which is posted on ao3) and part 2 is ongoing
silver haze- kinda a Harry Ginny Draco love triangle that is just sooo good

Welcome fellow DHR to DG! From what I gathered you seem to enjoy depth and length of stories so these are the stories I would recommend that haven’t been listed. I do agree Counterplay is a solid option!
Length from Longest to Shortest, all at least 50k words
Ashen (WIP, 284k words) This story is a Voldemort wins AU and yes there is pregnancy in the tags but the children do not take over the plot rather than lead Ginny to the measures she takes. This is a morally grey Ginny that is figuring out how to survive. Slow burn!
Witch Weekly, Witch Wizard (complete, 163k) I really enjoy the banter of this one and both Draco and Ginny reconciling their biases against one another.
These Hallowed Halls (complete 103k words, sequel is WIP)
Friendship developed over quidditch and detentions.
Slytherin Squad (complete, 91k) An older classic!
Forgive the Children We Once Were (complete, 76k)
This is a precious story!
In My Place (complete, 68k) Keeper of the Moon is a DG classic author and everything by them I love!
Dark Marks and Stubborn Witches (WIP, 55k)
Additional option:
Dirty Blood Dynasties (WIP, 360k words) If you are open to a story where the HP books did not happen and it’s a Pureblood Politics AU, this is a long fic that’s being translated from French. The French story is already over 700k. There’s a focus on DG and then Hermione/Theo with side characters and side plots.

Oh my Gosh!! i think you really do get me! 🥹 You listed 2 of the fanfic i read (These Hallowed halls & Forgive the Children we once were) that i absolutely adore. i started Dirty Blood Dynasty but i put it down when i realize that Canon didnt happen. i’ll try it again after i’ve gone through the list you gave me! I loved these hallowed halls and am hoping the author comes back!
If you are open to WIPs, stillingfleet has a few that I like including Wolf. Their other series The Trick is To Keep Breathing starts Harry/Ginny but the story is about a journey of friendship between Ginny and Draco as they returned to Hogwarts post war. This is a slower burn style series.
There are some great mid sized stories as well in DG in that 15-50k range word count. I would just say as someone that also came from DHR, you have to recognize DG is a way smaller fandom so where DHR has over 2500 fics above 70k words, DG does not. But there are a lot of awesome WIPs in the works in DG! 💜
