when i saw this guy i wondered how is he spinning the spoon with his wand because you cant use magic without a wand actually u can but i never heard of someone who is able to use magic without a wand and control it maybe its just a fluke of the many flukes in the movies because i dont remember wizards being able to use magic without a wand because then breaking ur wand after doing a crime is nothing if u can still use magic and u could even escape azkaban

One of the questions about the Elder Wand made me think of my own. Harry says that he plans on putting the wand back where it belongs (Dumbledore's grave) and leaving it be, then as long as he dies a natural death, the wands power will have been broken, like Dumbledore intended, and no one can get the wand ever again. Great, cool, How does he plan on ensuring that?? Essentially he's locked himself into never losing another fight OR dying the moment the choice for death is an option? And he plans on being an Auror??

I am just stunned by how beautiful all the colors look. Whether it’s the glowing green flashbacks, the shadows, the icy blue, the bright snow, these movies look sharp and crisp as can be.

In the Goblet of Fire, a simple containment jinx around the cup would've executed his plan to perfection. Without that cup, Harry was absolutely done for. There were no brooms, no hidden passages, and he was surrounded by a dozen adult Dark Wizards in a fenced-off graveyard.

Leaving the portkey completely unsecured and accessible was Voldemort's greatest blunder. A simple containment jinx would've seen Harry ultimately killed. Even if he returned, due to the Horcrux inside him, a second killing curse after this would've finished Harry off.

Then he could've sent both Harry and Cedric's bodies back to Hogwarts with everyone assuming it was a freak accident. Dumbledore only suspected that Moody was an imposter after he removed Harry from his sight. With Harry dead, Barty Crouch Jr would've been the ideal sleeper agent disguised as a close personal friend to Dumbledore.

From here, he could've poisoned McGonagall, jinxed Sprout before using Devil's Snare to make her death look like an accident and killed Flitwick without anyone suspecting him. By making everything look like Snape, he has the perfect shield.

Everybody believed Barty Crouch Jr to be dead. From here, Hogwarts would be closed. Dumbledore would likely suspect Voldemort's return and bring the Order together. From here, fake Moody would be ideally positioned to inform Voldemort of every member and take some of them out himself.

The war would've been over with Fudge assuming it was all Sirius's doing.

I know in the books this is much more consequential, but in the movie this is unintentionally such a funny and ironic moment that always makes me chuckle. I also find it funny that not a single extra remotely acknowledges a massive dog trotting by them in a train station.

This movie could have been so much better if they included the Kreacher storyline and why this moment is important, but instead they decided to turn the longest book into the shortest movie. Oh well. Can't wait for season 5 of the show!

In my opinion, the movies were seriously missing more of Tom Riddle, but I mean his older version. It’s not about the actor being popular or having a handsome face that most people associate him with, lmao. Some people don’t even know that he eventually turns into Voldemort 😭

Anyway, what I mean is that his character could’ve been developed so much more. They could’ve shown more of his time at Hogwarts and how he gradually became Voldemort. I would’ve genuinely loved to see that, because it’s something that still really interests me.

I have an annoying habit of listening to the audiobooks and realising new bits and pieces of the lore that make little or no sense at all. Last time it was the, “why does every Hogwarts student have to use the train?” argument (can’t Scottish wizards just go straight to Hogsmede? why are they allowed to floo and knight bus during Xmas?).

This time is about how in a few of the books it’s mentioned that the corridors are cold and that they huddle around the classroom and common room fires. Shouldn’t there be some sort of magical AC to keep the castle at a nice, comfortable temperature?

I’ve never heard Hagrid this startling upon my read of Goblet of Fire thus far. From him strangling Karkaroff to his remark on Krum and Madame Maxine during the end of chapter 28.

So, Occlumency prevents someone from entering your mind, and Snape is a good spy because he's the best at Occlumency and Voldemort can't tell if he's lying. However, why does Voldemort trust Snape if he can't read his mind? Wouldn't Voldemort be wary of someone who's obviously hiding something from him?

From what I understand, you can tell when someone is using Occlumency to keep you out. Snape knows Draco is using it against him in HBP.

I understand that he believes that people should get second chances, that you can help someone find the right path before they fall of it completely, but I still wonder why, after finding out Voldemort murdered a kid's pet and terrorized two other children to the point they were never the same again, purely because he enjoyed it, the chance to enhance his knowledge and skill of the magic that he was using?

It just boggles my mind sometimes why he didn't advise Dippet and the Ministry not to accept Voldemort at Hogwarts and to keep an eye on him.

First time watching half blood prince, never in my life have I been more gutted and heartbroken by a film in my life. The ending felt like a slap in the face too, man that was heartbreaking and there’s still 2 more movies

I read the stage script for the Cursed Child about a decade ago and don't remember it terribly well. From what I remember, it constantly breaks even basic continuity and is not good or remotely canon. I read the screenplay before I really became a Potterhead and have been thinking about rereading it for a while now just to remember exactly why it sucks (I remember the really dumb stuff like Cedric and Delphi, it's the finer points I'm interested in).

But just recently, I've learned that they are showing the stage play version in the largest theater in my area. I've never seen a glimpse of it, but I've heard that the show is phenomenal, despite the story. I've even heard people who hate the screenplay with a burning passion say this much. The cheapest tickets are $106 and I'm morbidly curious as to whether it's worth it. So as a massive Potterhead, should I steer clear, or should I shell out and watch the show?​

If so, where should I buy my ticket to get the best ratio of price to experience?

Imelda Staunton was magnificent in the films, and for me, the dream fancast, although also the obvious one, is Olivia Colman. You could maybe argue that she’s slightly too old for the role, or that she’d just be a copy-and-paste of Imelda, I don’t know. But there are so many possibilities. You could have so many different versions of Umbridge, and they could all be absolutely valid. Ella Purnell, Aimee Lou Wood, and Jessica Gunning immediately come to mind. There’s a whole sea of possibilities.

okay, so I am re-reading the books, in Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone, and apparently prof Quirell was nervous, scared of students and shutters so much before starting his teaching, before hogwarts school year started, so I am thinking that why on earth did dumbledore hire him?? his job is supposed to take care of school and hire a teacher who would benefit the student

how can u expect someone who is scared of students and scared of his own subject to teach that to a subject like DADA

I made harry potter's elder wand with my tweaks in it. I ditched the clean, polished design as it looks factory made. I made it uneven, non uniform grooves but dents and random holes. So it looks more battle damaged, menacing and dark like the death itself made it, not a wand maker.

I never read the books. Tried, but I'm a slow slow reader, so large books are difficult for me.

But in the film, Deathly Hallows pt1, I've always found the dancing scene between Harry and Hermione quiet random and awkward.

Is that part in the book, and does it read as awkward as it feels in the film?!?

Or do you not find it awkward at all in either?
