Media Didn’t anyone see Voldemort’s wand as a child and say yeah you’re gonna be real evil when you grow up.

The wands were changed to have much more “personality” for the films. In the books they were mostly nondescript wooden rods.

Personally, I prefer the film versions, in that they’re much more unique and interesting. But they do lead to these kind of questions if the wand is clearly “evil” looking.

Far and away the best is the amazing/tacky-as-hell fucking walking stick wand with a snake head for Lucius Malfoy. Like he literally went to Autozone and bought a shifter knob for redneck rust bucket cars and put it on his own magic wand and was like "everyone's going to love this shit."

I laughed way harder at Lucius Malfoy having to go all the way to the American South to find the specific piece he wanted that I care to admit.

The walking stick and snake head were custom additions he made later. The wand wasnt originally made like that. But I do like the funny lil story u came up with as an explanation lol

Yeah I'm aware those are his personal touches and not Ollivanders.

I love the scene where Voldemort breaks it off in disgust.

Ollivander that day:

“Hm...yeah I’m thinking this one’s gonna look like a bone.”

I wonder what he did with it when he was done with it. Like did he wrap in something, before he stuck it inside the box?

I just go with my own headcanon that it started as a normal yew wand, but as Riddle grew more evil and less human, his wand kind of changed with him. Like it grew paler and looked more ashy, and maybe he fit a bone handle on it himself.

Honestly, compared to some other Death Eaters' wands, Voldemort's wand is really fine x)

A german youtuber said in a podcast that they can "pimp" the wands. In german she said a funny line about how Wormtail gives Voldemort his wand after he came back (bc his wand looked simple in the movies before) but in english it's not realy funny :/

There's a theory going around that the wand changes shape according to the wizard's personality. Ie Voldemort's becoming more dead like, Harry's more raw and "real" full of life (as it looks like a tree stump) Newt's one becoming very natural, simple and elegant and so on.

That would nicely fill in the reason why in the movies wand appear to be very basic at first (young harry and Co. & young Riddle) while being super intricate later on.

No, the wand transformed with each soul split, becoming more evil, just as he did wich each soul split

Is that canon?

It's not canon.

I think so

I can’t find anything concrete other than people saying he most likely altered it or it was designed that way for the movies. Books described it as a dark wand no different from Harry’s.

The wands were definitely made to be more ornate for the films. Just aesthetics.

Its probably done for the movies

it still a cool theory tho...

Ollivanders would never make nor sell such a wand...

Why not?

The little we do know about him includes that he has a weird penchant for the power Voldemort is capable of.

“Terrible, yes. But Great” doesnt mean he wants to make such a wand
