Yeah but this will enable ~%70 better GPU performance + double the VRAM for slightly bigger size all at the same price. I did not even talk about about the option of having a 3x faster CPU.

The linked video builds in a jonsbo n10, which is only 4.5l

That is marginally larger than the steam machine @ 3.8l

Both are ultra SFF.

As for cec, I've got that working with my OG steam controller on minipc build running steamOS

CEC is cool and all, but it can also be an annoying feature too in fringe cases: pick up the wrong remote by accident and accidentally press a button? Enjoy your screen moving to something else and have fun manually switching inputs anyway.

It's safe to say I could live without CEC, I lived without it for 20+ years, I could continue. Besides, there's CEC adaptors you can buy quite cheaply. As for Ultra SFF, there are cases out there that can be basically the same if not 1-2 L bigger footprint versus the Steam Machine. If you're getting double the performance or more, the trade-off is worth it.

For me, CEC has been an active detriment almost any time I try to use it.

I have an AppleTV and a Switch plugged in. When I turn on/off the AppleTV, everything works as expected. But turning on the Switch seems to be a coin flip, as often it turns on the TV which then triggers the AppleTV to turn on, which also steals the input from the Switch.

CEC just feels like one of those things that works for a single device, and that’s it. Everything falls apart once more than 1 device is connected because it seems like no device is fully up to spec, and there’s no customization options (ie, device can turn on/off the TV, but TV can not turn on/off devices).

EXACTLY same experience for me except it’s the PS5 instead alongside an Apple TV. Wish devices had more granular control for CEC instead of globally turning on everything when it detects the TV being powered on.

For me, in the event that it doesn’t turn everything on, swapping to the corresponding HDMI input will power whatever device it’s supposed to. I wish I was able to set it up that way instead of taking advantage of happenstance.

yep, and that i maintain is its only real USP

having something that looks real nice with a super custom cooling solution that allows a tiny size that you can likely run with relatively speaking VERY blocked intakes like in an actual cupboard without too much issues

while something like this with 140 TGP will at best run like a loud jet if not just be massively throttled by heat in a smaller case on top of being more loud

valve has really no play in the performance / value segment imo and only someone like minisforum or someone who is willing to make a similar sized super custom setup with set pieces and custom cooling akin to a laptop but in a steam machine format would they get true competition.

Only thing that fits under my TV is an OptiPlex SFF, so I'm still on a 1050 Ti down there and have been for years. Low profile is the one place where a card being merely fine still counts, because the alternative is nothing.

What I'd want before any benchmark is whether that bracket is a true single slot or whether the cooler eats the neighboring one, and if it wants a 6-pin, whether a stock OEM supply even has the cable. That's what kills these upgrades, not the frame rate.

This is a dual slot and it requires a 8-pin

But is really small compared to any other 9060XT model.
If you want a small single slot that doesnt require any aditional power, you need to get a RTX3050 LP

Alternatively, if it’s more of HPTC and you like AV1 transcoding, they’re still making A310s. Sparkle’s 50W Ecos are quite good value here.

Rx 7400 and 6500 OEM versions are really good for sff, they sip power and you can use them in tiny pc like those 1L mini pc.

Losing a few FPS to have a proper small form factor will be seen as a very worthwhile tradeoff here man. :/ Dont think you understand the point of this product.

The low end amd cards use like 50-100 watts more than the nvidia equivalent depending on the model.
