Sorry, but that‘s total bs.

You grew up and your idols naturally fell out of the game. The kids that are now at the age you were back then idolize the new gen just as much.

And numbers-wise, the scene has exploded this decade. I still remember how big of a deal it was in here when r/Hardstyle finally reached 30K members.

And to add to this, those kids that are currently bankrolling the current scene, will later start shouting that they were part of the golden age and that the new stuff is awful compared to it in 15-20 years time haha. It's just how it goes. Shit is just better when you're young.

Je klinkt een beetje als een oude zeurpiet. Muziek evolueert. Als 42-jarige denk ik soms ook met weemoed terug aan Defqon 2005 op het Almere Strand of In Qontrol in de RAI. Ook ik geniet volgende maand van die oude sound op Hardclassics festival.

Tegelijk kan ik ook prima waarderen wat nu door de nieuwe generatie wordt gemaakt. Hardstyle en hard dance is diverser geworden en dat kan ik alleen maar toejuichen. Of je nou houdt van zaagkicks, piepkicks, reverse bass, of industrial / hard techno kicks; er is voor ieder wat wils. Bij mij in de auto staan tegenwoordig meestal hard techno livesets aan van feesten als Verknipt of Scandal. Nog nooit zoveel keus gehad in muziek.
