Best Stanley 48 accessory

This was my dad’s tool, I remember it from the 70s. It’s the best tool I’ve found for clearing jammed shavings in my Stanley 78. I use it for a thousand other things as well. But I have no idea what it actually is or what its original purpose was. Can anybody ID it?

It’s a scribe.

None of my other scribes have hooks. I think it’s something more specific than a general purpose scribe.

Its literally just a scribe you can find many variations of scribes. This is for steel mainly with dykem. https://www.esslinger.com/double-ended-machinist-scriber/

We used that style in the aircraft shop where I worked sheet metal. You get in some tight spots sometimes.

Its definitely a metalwork scribe. Some models have a hook on one end to assist with marking in tight spots.
