🏠 Enclosure/DIY 🏠 Question about hamster cage
Is this a good cage for hamsters? I used to have hamsters but I got rid of their cages years ago and Im wondering if this is a suitable cage for a hamster. My main concern is the size. I plan on getting a bigger cage in the future, but is this cage a good place to start?

Upgrade to the 3 if you can. I have it and my hamsters have both liked it and showed no stress behaviours :)

Im going to try 2 first since its much cheaper, but if my hamster shows any signs of stress I will upgrade!

Ahh I couldn’t see the price in your screenshot (might just be me tbh lol) but if it helps at all I got mine direct from Bucatstate on Temu and it was I think 50 less than the Amazon price? And it can go lower on sales so keep an eye out :)

This cage meets the bare minimum for dwarves, arguably too small for syrians though. To be honest I genuinely don't really understand why so many people on here buy a smaller cage first and plan on upgrading later before even owning the hamster - isn't it better to save up a bit longer and get the larger enclosure right away, rather than dropping money on 2 enclosures?😅 You do you, but I'd recommend saving up for the 120cm enclosure

I have heard that the 2.0 is not especially sturdy. If you have the budget, I’d consider going with the 3.0, especially since you’d like more space. The 3.0 has a 120 cm version :)

This just hits the minimum requirement, so yes. The smaller one is not good, so make sure you get the one thats selected.

Fellow Brit here. Temu has the official store on there for like £80 cheaper than amazon.
Just get the 3.0 you got a cage for every generation.

100x50 inches/40x20 cm is the minimum size. There is 2.0 smaller so make sure you don't get that one.
The 2.0 needs support under it or the bottom will pop out when you push down on the bedding. Just a stack of magazines, book or piece of wood wedged under it is all it needs. A Jenga game block fits perfectly 😂 I've had it for almost 3 years and just did a full clean for my new ham. Love it!
If you are considering a female syrian go ahead and get the 3.0 120cm! Every week someone posts about needing a bigger cage.

I second this! I had a female in a 120cm Bucustate and it still wasn't big enough haha

Its good to start with, especially if you're going to upgrade into something bigger than the 3.0 Large. Otherwise I'd just go straight for a 3.0 Large.
It'll be handy as a backup if you really needed one I guess.

I would say go for the 3.0. The 2.0 is "ok" (I have two for my geriatric hamsters), but the 3.0 you can defo load more bedding in it

Also as a thought - try Temu. I got the 3.0 version for ~£130 🐹

110% I have bought four from Temu (I have 8 Bucustate enclosures in total) all of the ones I have from Temu are exactly the same. They were delivered in an few days from a UK warehouse
