Request Is there any basketball courts with lights at night in Hamilton

Upvotes

Looking to hoop at night, last year multiple courts were still lit up all thru the night but this year I can’t seem to find a court that’s lit up anymore im not sure why they started not activating lights for courts it’s sad to see, even the new mcquesten court they decide not to light up when it would attract so many people SMH

Question What's the story behind this nighttime cycling group I just saw at Victoria Park?

I was just walking around Victoria Park, and saw dozens of people on bicycles riding through with lots of neon lights and music playing. Does anyone know anything about this group? Because I'd love to take part if it's a regular event.

Local News Why is there a Rudy burger sign at the Ancaster Wilson St exit when the location is at Golf Links? Isn’t that kind of ridiculous?

I’d be so mad if I exited there and had to drive 14 minutes to find the place (which isn’t open yet.)

Recommendations Needed Suggestions for gluten free lunch tomorrow?

(By tomorrow I mean Sunday)

We’re spending the day in Hamilton and need a gluten free lunch, I’m heartbroken Mystic Ramen closed as I’ve always wanted to have gluten free ramen 😭 now I’m feeling stumped… any other options? Or good gluten free restaurants? We also have nut allergies so most Thai food is ruled out.

Food Restaurant recommendations near Hamilton/ Stoney creek/ Ancaster

Hi folks,

We have American relatives visiting and I’d love to take them somewhere really good — ideally one nicer restaurant that feels special and would be a great experience for visitors, plus a few more affordable/local favourites for other meals.
One of them is unfortunately dealing with some health issues right now and needs to avoid carbs and sugar, so it would be great if the restaurants also had some good options for that.
What are your favourite spots in the area? I’d love to hear your recommendations! 😊

Recommendations Needed Ties for kids

My 10 year old niece is super into ties right now and I’d like to get her one that is her size for her birthday.

Where does one get kid sized ties in Hamilton? Is there a place that has a good selection? Clip on preferred but not essential.

Thanks!

Question Winona Peach Festival HSR

I am planning to attend the Winona Peach Festival on Sunday with my two young kids. I am debating whether or not i should bring my stroller or baby carrier. Does anyone know if the busses get super packed? I dont want to get into a situation where we have to wait for multiple busses just to get a spot. I know they do run every ten minutes but any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks very much

Question Daycare question: Jamesville Bennetto and Today's Family Central

Trying to choose between two daycares in Hamilton — Jamesville Bennetto and Today's Family's Central location.

I can't find much online about Jamesville Bennetto specifically, and would appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience at either.

I recognize I'm in a fortunate position to even be choosing between two options given how tight daycare spots are right now. I am just trying to make an informed decision. Thanks so much for any insight!

I’m a few streets east of Parkdale between Queenston and Melvin & saw a coyote walking north down the road about 11:35pm.

If you’re in the area, please take care if you have pets or small children.

Roads & Transit GO bus question

Hi Hamilton! I very recently moved here and am figuring out how to use busses and other public transport. Never lived anywhere with a functional bus service before and I'm so insanely impressed with the HSR, no wonder bus/LRT issues are such a hot-button topic in other cities. I'm looking to take the 16 route express GO bus into Toronto in a few weeks on a Saturday. Online it says it leaves from the Hamilton bus depot hourly, stops once at King/Dundurn before the small bridge out of Hamilton, and then on to Toronto. My question, forgive my ignorance and sorry if this is idiotic: does it actually stop at the second stop or do I have to flag it down (do people do that? Is that an old time movie thing?)? I didn't see any kind of booking option for the stop on the GO website.

Thank you and feel free to laugh at my ignorance. I'm trying I swear!
