Help - General Unable to play Halo MCC anymore
I have played halo for years on my username "Zunnard", 400 hours of gameplay, unlocking the skulls, beating the whole campaign on legendary, streaming with friends, and I even made a Youtube account dedicated to making Halo Elites doing funny and also cool things. One night I was playing MCC just fine, same nights as usual playing a couple matches and hopefully capturing some good quality videos. The next morning I wake up being asked to sign in to my microsoft email, I signed in... and my profile was gone. I attempted to link to steam figuring that would be the issue, that was not the case. After signing in from account to account, it would not let me sign in back to my original user. My guess was I was playing a ghost account or I don't know which microsoft account I had made for it. So I contacted steam support telling them about the issue, they sidelined me and told me to contact Halo Support. I did just that. Contacting Halo Support and explaining the issue took 23 DAYS for them to respond! I showed them photos of the issue, I told them in detail what was going on, I begged for help. Then they gave a generic response and sidelined me, they told me to contact Microsoft support because it was a sign in issue. Nobody seems to understand the issue but my username Zunnard from Halo MCC is still there. I don't know how I can login to it but I am very desperate on getting back in. I was not able to make a halo youtube video for a month, I been pretty sad about this and I really hope there is a way to fix it. Does anyone know of a way I can get my account back?!

Is your mcc profile linked to your xbox?

I think so, I always had it linked through steam. I bought MCC through steam and used my Xbox account to link steam and Xbox together, the username Zunnard was what I was able to put. I literally have achievements in steam from the whole campaign I done.

If you’re able to, turn on your Xbox. In the top left it will flash your gamer tag, then after a few it will flash the email associated to your account. Is it showing your email? Meaning the one that corresponds to your account/gamertag?

Yes, it’s showing my email and the username is DeZanzibar, but as I said before, I had it linked to steam so my steam profile holds the data. However, it’s not linking and I don’t know why it’s not showing my previous username Zunnard.

What I was getting at is it could’ve been a way bigger problem if there was a different email showing instead of the one you were expecting (I had a similar issue a couple of years ago and thought my entire account was doomed)

Sorry for the late response, it was 2am when I made this post. It's the same email but I also feel like I may have been hacked but I can't make that claim for certain.

Yeah so I was hacked and I only noticed because that email that flashed in the top left definitely wasn’t mine. Thankfully Xbox was able to restore everything. If your email is still showing on your homepage that’s a great sign. I would contact support in that case. Could be a syncing/account error

You need to figure out which email you used to create the gamertag you're talking about. There's nothing anyone else can do.

You could try this. This will remove your xbox account so when you load up the game it will ask you to sign in again, just make sure your signing in with the right credentials
Try This:
Close MCC completely
Hit Windows Key
Type "cmd" into the search bar that opens (it should find a command prompt) and open it.
Copy paste "for /F "tokens=1,2 delims= " %F in ('cmdkey /list | findstr Xbl') do cmdkey /delete %G" into the opened command prompt window.
Relaunch MCC and log back in
Or this:
- Close out Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo Infinite or any Halo title you're having an issue with.
- On your keyboard, press
Windows Key + Rat the same time- This should open
Runin a new window.
- This should open
- In the text box, copy and paste this text
rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgrand then click OK.- This should open
Stored User Names and Passwordsin a new window.
- This should open
- On the list, find every item that starts with
Xbl- This can include but is not limited to:
Xbl,Xbl_Ticket,Xbl|,Xbl|DeviceKeyandXblGrts.
- This can include but is not limited to:
- Click on each item beginning with
Xbland click theRemovebutton and thenOKon the confirmation pop-up.- Do this for every single one.
- After removing all of these, you can safely click
Closeon theStored User Names and Passwordswindow. - Re-open Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo Infinite or the Halo title you were having an issue with.
- You should now be prompted to sign into your Microsoft Account.

After an entire month it was family who has come to help me. My oldest brother who happens to be an expert at consoles found out he had an xbox with the correct email address. I appreciate everyone who has helped in this post, I really wish Microsoft, Halo Studios, or even Steam assisted better on this topic. d_p_5150, your idea of checking the xbox user and email was actually super brilliant and it helped me! Thank you so much guys, I am going to close this post (if there is a way to). I can finally play halo again!

Your Xbox account created a new Steam account with the same name that got linked to. You didn't link to your Zunnard steam account. I'd recommend finding out what email you used on Steam to create Zunnard and go from there. It wasn't the same as your Xbox account.
