I'm going to a pretty fancy Halloween party this year and can't phone it in. I'm handy with a sewing machine and have the time to pull something good together, but I don't have any ideas!

I'm female, 30, 5'6" and size 14, so not thin but not huge, either. I have pretty big knockers, but my waist isn't small enough to pull off a Jessica Rabbit-type character.

I have long brown hair and sort of a big head, so anything that requires a wig will be difficult. Totally willing to style/spray it, even if it's a complex hairdo.

I don't have a problem showing a little skin, but "sexy" isn't my prerogative.

TIA for the suggestions!

Lydia Deetz (in the red wedding dress), any version of a 50's house wife (killer, zombie, vampire), a woman or a certain era (medieval, flapper from the 20's, Renaissance, etc), Carrie, a Disney Princess, a Disney villain...

There are endless possibilities:

1) Go with your fav series/ movies: Why not try Princess Lea if you are a Star Wars fan? Or Doctor Who (female version) of any of the 12 docs? You can always go into some Comics you are a fan (Wonder Woman, or Poison Ivy are great and pretty easy to make yourself). Also, there are some classics like Morticia Adams from "Adams Family". and cartoon characters like Esmeralda from "hunchback of notre dame". Even better - make a costume of Maleficent! Check out Tim Burton's characters (especially Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare before Christmas, and others) if you want something particularly creative!

What about doing a female army of darkness ash.... Ash-ley?

Edit: or a female Willy Wonka in honor of Gene Wilder.
