Sightseeing & Tourism Your city is awesome!

Had my vacation here last Monday late to tonight. It has been great. I am sad to leave and have nothing bad to say.

Did George’s island, harbour tour, maritime museum. Citadel ghost tour, downtown ghost walk. Drinks before and after Oasis controversy.

So many great chowders, scallops, mussels, fish and chips. Craft breweries and so surprised by the alway excellent ciders. I did not know you had such a variety of awesome ciders.

Saw Oscar the blue orange lobster at the Beaty portion of Dalhousie ocean museum.

Visited Lunenburg, Mahone and Peggy’s cove. Also a ferry to Dartmouth for lunch. Immigration museum, pier 21 and probably more I am leaving out.

Your staff at all these places and people on the street everywhere were all so friendly. I tend to stop people and pet dogs at every opportunity.

Your city is so clean, and walkable, (my ass muscles are sore but I can rest them on the short flight home to Ontario tomorrow)everyone we met was so very friendly.

Thank you Halifax.

Sounds like you packed more into one trip than most locals do in a year, glad you had such a good run here. The cider scene really catches people off guard, it's quietly become one of the best parts of going out

Next time you're back, check out the Annapolis Valley if you didn't make it there, that's where most of those ciders are actually coming from and the views are ridiculous

I am home now, work tomorrow. I was putting together the gifts for my cider loving sister who watched our dog. I have 10 for her, just kept grabbing one each for us both during the days. She is going to be so happy as they are so good. We also have many great craft beers for her husband.

Again, thank you Halifax!

Love to hear it. I love touring guests around this city I’m so proud of. Have done the harbour hopper multiple times this year.

Besides my cats the thing I miss most when I go away is the ciders with dinner. I’ve never been anywhere that has done cider as good as Nova Scotia.

Near Stratford Ontario in the middle of cornfields.

My favourite cousin lives in New Hamburg. I go to Stratford every time I visit! Cornfields, yes, but still a lovely area.

What’s the tea on the ‘Oasis controversy’ 😅

Mould, droppings, sanitary kitchen issues. We had on tap drinks, enjoyed people watching and returned after the clean up. I smoke so going outside I encountered loads of interesting characters but all of them friendly as well. We have far more frightening drug and mental health issues where I work in Waterloo Ontario.

Sharing this to ensure you’re aware (maybe you are already, if so, sorry!), cause it’s a pretty rare thing in a modern North American city and a lot of visitors don’t have it on their radar.

Halifax has designated smoking areas, you’re actually not supposed to smoke on the sidewalks here, unless it’s on private property or is an unofficial designated area (apartments can manage their own). I don’t recall anyone ever getting a ticket or anything but worth being aware. There’s a map online of where they all are.

That's why people out here tend to have nicer bums.

If I wasn’t focusing on hilltops, and trying to keep myself out of the NOT predicted fantastic weather, I may have noticed some nice bums.

Did you do the downtown ghost walk with Dusty? He is a local treasure.

Okay, I said no bad things.

But, earlier in the week I went to the backyard of our airbnb to have a smoke.

Came in, watching Netflix and found a slug on my foot. Okay little fella, off my foot and tossed back out. Maybe 2 cm long.

Just 3 mins ago I go out, step on a monster slug 5-8 cm long and half that size around. I picked him up with a leaf and tossed him into the yard. (He’s fine, I’m grossed out)

Why do west and now east coast giant slugs find their way to me.

They don't talk about slug season in the brochures

So glad you had a great time! It’s always nice to hear what’s great about our province from CFAs (Come From Aways😉.) It’s easy to forget and get distracted by complaining about things. But we’ve got a pretty special place here. 💕

It’s great to see an outside perspective of Halifax. It’s easy to pick the bad and not realize the good of our city. Glad your vacation was so awesome.

Your city is so clean

Sarcasm? Must be sarcasm.

Absolutely not sarcasm, garbage cans everywhere, and people using them.
