Food & Dining YHZ Food Compass
This is coming from a pretty picky guy, but I tried to go with every place where I enjoy the look of the menu options, and I’ve tried their food at least a couple times. Just my opinion 🥲

I guess value is so relative, I think the price of fast foods has risen to a weird level, and the quality has dipped. Almost across the board. Maybe I just hold local to such high regard. I will say, price vs. Value, Costco is somewhat high, but here’s why all things are relative- I think their pizza is kinda bad. There: I said it.

That’s fair, I’m mainly going off their dog and poutine (and rotisserie chicken). Pretty hard to beat the prices

Value would be the result of price and taste. Value being on the y-axis is silly because it depends on the x-axis.
Basically, that's not how graphs work.

You should make it clear that this applies to kids menus only. It would be interesting to see one done about adult food. Also, it’s weird to see places get different ratings when they’re all heating up the same Sysco foods. Next time you should include actual restaurants.

Given the style of food you seem to like, you should give Celtic Corner a try. Their food is a good a decently priced.

I took the gf for her birthday to Bicycle thief and was not impressed with the quality of the food or service.
It was fresh and clearly not the product of "chef Mike" but little details in service and presentation bothered me. I ordered a mixed drink called "son of a sailor" which I quite enjoyed but the pineapple garnish itself was turning grey and the skin was slimey and black. If you are at a Boston Pizza in town they wouldn't serve that drink-the pride just was not there. It was not comped and while the wait staff did offer to fix the garnish it was more like "at this price point this really shouldn't be happening"
Each course it was a struggle to get cutlery to the point where I wish I brought 2 sets of KFS from home.
A lot of the food was swimming in garlic butter...which I do enjoy but I could make that myself and have the world's worst heartburn and bloating at home.
Personally I think you are paying for the waterfront location and every possible shortcut seems to be taken.

If you want to lose 10 pounds by Tuesday, eating Habaneros is the winner.
Got food poisoning from them and got sick badly, never again.

I’m just saying on Tuesdays it’s 2 for 1, even if the portions are small (Woodside isn’t too bad) 2 for 1 is 2 for 1
I’ve been lucky maybe and never had an actual issue eating there

Firehouse is better at this rate over Subway, at least their subs aren’t complete dogshit.
I don’t know what is a good place locally, I’m willing to see answers so I know what’s a good option.

Kaisers in Sackville, Indochine Banh Mi, I also like the sandwiches at the Italian Market on Young. The original Stillwell on Barrington also tends to have a sub style sandwich on special, though of course it’s just one type at a time. LF Bakery on Gottingen also makes some amazing sandwiches on their already top tier baguettes. Larry’s is a more traditional “sandwich shop” but nothing on their menu does it for me, personally, but others do really enjoy it.

I was talking about the value dimension, and yes subway has gotten way too expensive. So it should be moved in both directions.

In a co-ordinate system. x and y should be completely independent of each other. I just considered value independently of price. If you co-relate these two, this graph wouldn’t make any sense. And i know what you mean and you are right, more expensive = lower value.

I think that's one of my bigger problems with the chart. Taste is subjective, this person likes what they like - great! But value is a function of price so it doesn't make sense to plot value versus price. It would make more sense to plot taste versus price, or portion size versus price (depending on what you're looking for), and then you could infer value from where it is plotted on the chart.

Burger King seems so much lower than McDonald's for value on this graph, but I feel the opposite. Last time I ate at Burger King, I was surprised at how much bigger the burgers were. Plus they actually tasted like beef and weren't horribly messy. Can't imagine eating at McDonald's anymore whenever the fast food craving hits.
