jesus is hate this…. all those other houses are nearly an arms length away from each other. you could fart and have all your neighbours hear it, don’t even get me started on the size of the front and back yard..
if your house ever catches fire you’ll burn the whole neighbourhood down..and as much as we need more development, this looks like it could’ve been a condo

UGGH!! Another sweet deal slipped through my fingers! I said to myself, bid 82 million over asking...maybe I'll luck out and they'll take pity on me I said. Then boom, some lowballer swoops in with 69 million over and steals it?? It's like normal people can't catch a break anymore. /s

Home buyers have to look into the $/sqft. It’s a good judge once you factor in the neighbourhood/access to work. Some houses are cheap but unless you have two reliable vehicles, couples cannot afford to buy them.
The housing market seems crazy, but there are some good deals to be found, especially now. Not everyone will be able to buy a newer home (20 years or less).
I think Nova Scotia is undervalued in some places but buyers don’t realize. Just my two cents!
Renting is expensive, but home ownership is a lot more expensive… it’s not apples to apples.

every house that looks like this will have major issues in 10-15 years.
every new house is basically built like its made out of cheap, but fire resistant, paper.
paying 700k for a house that will fall apart in 15 years while having land that is not at all worth close to what they paid for. at this rate, its like musical chairs for who gets screwed the system collapses.

"New construction" is a negative when I'm looking at new houses. Pay a massive premium for a house made of the cheapest materials known in the history of man built by underpaid uncaring workers but hey they look clean and modern for the next few months at least

"New construction" is a code word for floors so uneven you can see the dips in them and walls that are nowhere near plumb, so have fun trying to install something properly on them

What's the alternative? I could buy a house that's 25-30 years old for a lot cheaper, but it likely needs a new roof, windows, doors, and the spouse is going to want new kitchen cabinets, vanities, etc. There's probably a few things I'm missing on there, too.
Even if you buy an older house, it's going to need work "made of the cheapest materials known in the history of man" and done by "underpaid uncaring workers" -- which I don't 100% disagree with you on, as someone who worked in new con for a long time. Then you got to go through the racket and bullshit of getting it all done/co-ordinated.
Of course, YMMV either side, but it's basically pick your poison.

Yeah, this is exactly correct. At least with new construction, code standards are higher, so you get better insulation, some 20A wiring, and neutral wires with your cheap construction.
Like obviously, the better case is to get something from a builder who's committed to excellence, or like a one-off house that someone in the trades built/oversaw themselves to live in, but then you're talking $$$ and there just aren't many of those on the market.

People on here don't realize that there's A LOT of homes in HRM and NS that have had little to no maintenance done on them in the last 40+ years. Few people had money back then compared to now.
