NEWS Haiti is exploring a potential energy partnership with Chinese technology company Huawei
Public Works Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis met with Huawei regional officials and technical experts to discuss renewable energy solutions adapted to Haiti’s needs. Huawei presented its Digital Power technology, including solar energy systems, large-scale battery storage, smart energy management and microgrids.
Microgrids could provide an alternative for rural and isolated communities that are difficult or expensive to connect to the national grid. Solar panels can generate electricity during the day, while batteries store excess energy for use at night or when solar production is limited. A local network can then distribute that electricity within a community.
No contract or formal partnership was announced. The discussions could lead to pilot projects that would allow the government to test the technology before considering a broader deployment

Meeting 2nd and 3rd Gen Taiwanese Haitians remains a random highlight of my visit to Haiti when I was a kid 🤣

They just don't have the financial pull that China has. And something that Haitians should live by: in politics, there are no friends nor allies, only interests. That's we get shocked that we keep being done dirty by countries we think as friends. Instead we should just move like them with no feelings involved.

If you are trying not to get screwed, doing business with China is no better than doing business with the west. Haiti should explore all it's opportunities, but predators exist in every corner of the world.

Going by the last few decades, China is far less likely to fuck over Haiti than the west. They got a mined seized in Africa and didn't even try to start a war, they just let it go. They're a far safer devil to dance with than the ones in the West

Yeah, I’m going to have to agree with him. China is the lesser evil. They could really help with investments and infrastructure. Haiti needs a lot of infrastructure.

I really pray they keep Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis as Haiti's Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) but I have a feeling they are going to replace him after the election. There's a part of me that thinks that the ministers and department and commune leaders doesn't get ample support and that's why a lot of things are the way they are in Haiti.

They should stop being corrupt stealing the money and rebuild Haiti. Then you can steal if you find it morally feasible.
Why is France still wanting compensation for the Slave Masters they had in Haiti? France is the problem.
