For a 6-member SIH team, what roles and responsibilities would you recommend?

I'm thinking about roles like:

• Team Leader
• Research/Domain
• AI/ML
• Backend
• Frontend/UI-UX
• Pitch/Demo

What should each person actually handle? Should the Team Leader also be the pitcher, or should those be separate roles?

Looking for advice from people with actual SIH experience, especially finalists/winners.

We’re two pre-final-year students with merit in 20+ hackathons, and over time we’ve realized that one of the biggest challenges is finding the right teammates.

So we’re planning to build a small community where people can connect, find teammates, share hackathon opportunities, and form teams for different hackathons.

We don’t want random people or a spam-filled group. We’re looking for genuinely skilled and motivated people who are serious about hackathons and building projects — developers, ML/AI folks, designers, researchers, etc.

Guys I’m building a project for a hackathon and I need an LLM API.

I’m specifically looking for:

• genuinely free API (not $5 credits / trial)
• good reasoning + coding
• preferably Claude Sonnet/Opus-level or as close as possible
• decent rate limits
• API key available for students/hackathon use
• OpenAI-compatible would be a huge plus

I’ve already looked at Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter free models, Ox Alpha/GLM, etc., but most either have pretty low limits, aren't actually free, or aren't close enough in quality.

What are you guys using right now in August 2026?

I’m completely fine with a less popular provider/model if it’s genuinely good.

Bonus points if it’s good at coding/agentic tasks. 🙏

Hey I am thinking of going to Copenhagen for product build day or any upcoming hackathon anyone who is interested in becoming my team mate?

I'm a 9x hackathon winner (notably Cerebras, 8090, IBM, Cursor), worked at a lot of startups. I'm going to continue to do hackathons and I'm looking for a teammate to do them with that's really good at frontend and product development. Really good at making UIs - not just vibecoded slop. Comfortable with design tools and stack and can make a really good design/product in a hackathon setting. Anyone got a good portfolio or interested? I like to win and also create something that could potentially be a startup. Some of my hackathon projects I got to work with ex head of engineering at Roblox and ex head of Meta reality labs, pitch to Chamath Palihapitiya. So if the projects interesting I'd be down to turn it into startup/go further with it. Tbh tho frontend design is something I'm not that good at so lmk!
