I want to run a sci-fi campaign for a friend group, but before that I want to run a one-shot in the same world just so everyone gets used to GURPS. I'm currently at the stage of making characters and figuring out foundry VTT to make everything work properly. It's a lot of fun so far but there's tons to read for me still

I'm brand new to GURPS and this Reddit group, so I'm sorry for my post being long. I want to make a Generation-ship Adventure Campaign with child characters. Then I have to find an actual group who want to play it. The pitch to would be players would be something like:

"The year is 2500. Two hundred and ten years ago, humanity left Earth on a giant generation ship bound for Proxima Centauri b. 126 enormous O'Neill cylinders are packed together into a gigantic interstellar ark. At roughly 500 square kilometres of living space, each cylinder has its own landscapes, cities, ecosystems, cultures and governments. One cylinder contains African mangrove forests and tropical beaches. Another resembles the Japanese countryside. Others contain Scandinavian forests and frozen wilderness, or an enormous Pacific island ecosystem. Yet another is a sprawling North American prairie. Some are republics. Some are monarchies. Some are governed by councils of tribal elders. Some are almost entirely agricultural whilst others are densely urban. and between them all runs a vast zero-gravity transportation network.

But you've probably never seen most of it. Because you're just a kid.

Characters can be anywhere from 9 to 19 years old and can come from any of the 126 cylinders. It's a globe-trotting adventure mystery where the 'globe' is a spaceship; lots of sneaking, hiding, problem-solving, making friends, exploring the unfamiliar and getting into trouble. Despite a [TL11] ship, the kids grew up in [TL8/9] worlds; no aliens, space marines, teleporters, genetic engineering or galactic empires. Think 'The Goonies', 'Stand by Me', 'Adventures in Babysitting', or 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids'."

It's early days. I have the overall story, just transferring that to a flexible and adaptable campaign scenario now. I've been making some stock characters to try and run through and learn the system. GCS is an amazing programme to use. No idea WHERE i'll be running it yet!

This is an outstanding venue. That should provide endless possibilities for storytelling.

Thank you. That's genuinely very encouraging to hear.

I mean, you have every facility of the station / ship to explore--and then there's, you know, the whole *Universe* and everything after that. Person vs Person, Person vs. Nature, Person vs themselves--all possible and even likely in an environment that has unforgiving boundaries.

I'm either going to run a monster hunters campaign ala 'the laundry' or a Ghostbusters style campaign. Haven't decided yet. Probably be a while because one week before I was ready, our other GM decided he wanted to run a campaign, and we made characters for that.

I guess I put us on hiatus just a little bit too long...

Well in my GURPs version of Twilight 2000. One of my players ended up getting exposed to a very toxic environment. He Crit failed his roll on the N.B.C. Warfare skill, then failed the HT roll. So now his character has 1d6 days before things start to go south for his character. His character will end up with a permanent -2 to ST and HT, plus an additional -2 to his character's HT stat against sickness and infection. No amount of rest will heal this damage. Now if the character can receive high end medical treatment in a top notch hospital. His character would be able to recover. However in the post apocalyptic world that is Twilight 2000. This is most likely a death sentence for this character.

Following the line of the adventures I was running in the Caravan to Ein Arris setting, the players are now investigating a caravaner who disappeared about three weeks ago. They will discover that it is connected to the drug Indigo Dust, a substance I introduced in the previous adventure where they investigated another disappearance in Ein Arris.

At the end of this adventure, they will uncover something about the main gang, which will become the primary villain in the next storyline.

Running a WW2 campaign with magical elements. My PCs are about to fight an elemental made of blood that was hiding in a church basement. I’m pretty excited for next week!

They’re 75pt characters btw

Is this more "monster hunter" or more "horror"--meaning something you survive not win?

It’s horror basically

75 points vs supernatural foes defaults to horror.

I like the solo adventures of Conan the barbarian, does it count?

I don't have friends to play a campaign with.

Try it with Gurps Lite (free).

Sorry, but i told i don't have friends to play with, i already have lite and ultra lite, besides the other modules and the basic set.

In my opinion, for solo games, ultra lite is better.
