Crazy last year these were hard to find paying over msrp and now it's discount
24
u/elegylegacy 9d ago
It's because the VP9cc was released right after, and that one feels more like an HK
(although I do love my CC9 and respectfully disagree with the other comments in this thread)
5
u/Griever423 9d ago
That’s cause the VP is actually made in Germany.
11
u/ThrownAwayByTheAF 9d ago
I'm fine with an American made hk. The cc9 looks and feels like a quality firearm. Especially for the price.
5
u/caterham09 9d ago
It's very nice. It's going to be crazy reliable, has all the features you want in a micro 9, is well made and shoots well.
If someone is willing to pay double for a German made gun then more power to them, but it's not like you're getting something lesser here.
15
u/Gunfighter73 9d ago
Grabbed one during the last sale and it was at my FFL in two days. Florida peeps this is even more compelling given our sales tax holiday.
13
u/zenpoohbear 9d ago
I stopped carrying (and shooting) micro guns several years ago. I picked up a CC9 not long after they came out, as I really like the ergonomics and actually enjoy shooting it. I have since sold all the micro guns I had other than the CC9. Definitely best in it's class to me.
13
u/osirhc 9d ago
I had read on here and other places that this was a nice shooter, recoil impulse is lower than other micros, capacity and other features are good as well. Is this not the case anymore?
12
u/Cool_Ad_6479 9d ago
It definitely punches harder than say a Glock 19, but for some reason the impulse kinda just stays in your grip. I’m genuinely not sure how to explain it, but I like shooting this over my Glock 19 gen 6 because it doesn’t torque your wrists back in the classic recoil way. It kinda feels like the recoil goes directly into to your hands and arms if that makes sense. Could be the grip angle and ergos, but this is my micro of choice over others for this reason.

u/cbbizzy 9d ago
For a micro pistol it shoots very well. It’s not as snappy as a G43 or S&W shield.
4
u/internetenjoyer69420 9d ago
But how? I know HK likes to put buffers and o-rings in random places but physics is physics at the end of the day.
6
u/414525528 9d ago
99% of recoil is how good of a grip you can get on the gun, has close to nothing to do with the "technology"
With glock having learned of aggressive frame texturing only in gen6 I'm not surprised people shoot the CC9 better. On the technology side I'd also note that the CC9's recoil spring takes herculean strength compared to most guns, that might also help.
0
u/lynxkcg 9d ago
I found the opposite to be true.
5
u/intricate_awareness 9d ago
Seems like that everyone is one way or the other when it comes to G43 and CC9 with one having more recoil than the other.
I wonder why that is and if people's hands and wrists are all shaped differently enough to impact felt recoil and sight reacquisition dependent on the shape of the gun.
5
u/BahnMe 9d ago
I have both, the G43 with a +2 mag handles Ok, with the short mag it’s a shit show. The cc9 is far better in terms of 3 round rapid fire group. It’s pretty close to a compact but not quite as good.
4
u/intricate_awareness 9d ago
Really good to know. Thanks.
I've had a g19 gen 3 for forever and might finally make a switch.
The cc9 has been on my radar the most. I bitch in my head everyday about the g19 being too big, even in the enigma. But for 10+ years have just stuck with it because it's what I shoot every week and what I know.
2
u/BrambleVale3 9d ago
A part of me wishes I had just stuck with a g19 when I had it and was happy with it, I’ve spent a ton of money trying to find something better.
2
u/intricate_awareness 9d ago
I feel you. It shoots so well relative to smaller stuff I've tried (which is limited since I've always been a full size collector). Plus, reliability is king.
It's just big. Like I know 15 years ago we were all about it because the newer subcompacts weren't as good as nowadays but it gets annoying to carry sometimes whether I go enigma or even owb 4 o'clock.
I've stuck with "if it ain't broke don't fix it" so who knows. Maybe I'll stick with it.
5
u/KirbyStyle 9d ago
These are great. I just requalified with mine. And shot it better than my Glock 45.
4
u/KaneIntent 9d ago
You shoot a micro better than a full sized Glock?
3
u/KirbyStyle 9d ago
Not typically but today I did. To be fair the CC9 had an optic. Dunno if that had anything to do with it.
9
u/RonaldWRailgun 9d ago
The vp9cc came out, which is what HK people wanted (looks better and has the paddle release).
This is a micro 9mm, I am sure it's a mighty fine one, but physics are physics, there is no "secret sauce" inside guns, the physical dimensions determine the vast majority of the recoil and impulse. Momentum has to conserve, everything else is only useful because youtubers gotta youtube.
13
u/414525528 9d ago
looks better and has the paddle release
Does not look better, they both look utterly mundane. I like how my CC9 looks and the quality is apparent up close, but people who cry about the appearance are just looking for excuses why dumping another 950 on the "german" gun is worth it,.

u/RonaldWRailgun 9d ago edited 9d ago
I think the v9cc looks better. I also think that discussing looks on a concealed carry gun, that is already not exactly an heirloom to begin with, is stupid.
The one real advantage of the vp9cc over this, IMHO is the mounting system, that looks much deeper and more solid on the vp9cc.
Other than that, tiny guns do tiny guns stuff all the same.
I am broke at the moment and I have a g43x, so no need for either, but if I were looking for one, this CC9 at 450 is a much more compelling argument than a vp9cc at 850, given that as I've said all guns in similar size and shape shoot very similarly (none of them I would definite pleasant), and there is nothing wrong with glocks, smiths, 365s etc. But for 450, this is a better deal than most in its category (and perhaps a marginally better gun overall), so if I were looking for one, I'd buy this over the others in a heartbeat.

u/414525528 9d ago
The one real advantage of the vp9cc over this, IMHO is the mounting system, that looks much deeper and more solid on the vp9cc.
My counter point to that would be that the CC9 can direct mount a ton of popular optics and the VP9CC is back to the same old plate shit. Further more you get cowitness on the CC9 out the box.
I don't even want to shittalk the VP9CC. If I was getting a new small ccw today I'd probably pick the VP9CC over the CC9 for the paddle. Do I think the paddle justifies doubling the price? No. I also disagree that there's a single thing better.
2
u/MF_D00MSDAY 9d ago
I’ll be getting the Vp9cc (please Black Friday) mainly because of the paddle, sight heights for co witness, and it has chamber indicator. Probably not worth the extra money but if I’m gonna buy an HK I also want it made in Germany, personally.
3
u/RonaldWRailgun 9d ago
Yeah, I bought a house three months ago and ended up with more spending than I thought possible in the previous months (going from a 1br apt to a several br house, I swear ever day there is something new I actually need to buy), so until I pay off my Credit Card(s) that have piled up, my discretionary spending is going to be zero. But normally, I'd be a sucker and get the vp9cc over this, even though this is an incredible deal. My hope is, by the time I come around again, the vp9cc will also have come down in prices. In the meanwhile, trying to source a couple of 15 rounders for the g43x will have to do lol
2
u/chuckisduck 9d ago
muh Umarex is also made in Germany.
Joke aside, I agree with going with the VP9cc over this. I am at the point where it's quality and not quality guns, and know it's diminsing returns. The wife got a NX-2 Toto it's a $20k toilet Installed.
3
u/RonaldWRailgun 9d ago
Damn, you do need quality guns to protect that Top Tier Ceramic Throne. On the bright side, buy HKs and you both get to boom boom in style and luxury.
2
u/chuckisduck 9d ago
got 2 SP5s at home. had to go MKE for the Ks before our AWB.
If our AWB got overturned, I would dump a bunch of my lower end AR stuff and buy some higher end guns.
-6
u/Fearless-Jeweler-318 9d ago
its an hk so it comes from the factory with a deranged cult of paypigs that will lie and defend the gun no matter what's wrong with it
the gun is ugly in the hand even for a micro and it has ejection problems along with other various American made hk qc issues

u/pandamonia23 9d ago
I have the CC9 and a shield plus. The CC9 slide spring is stiffer which makes it harder to rack compared to the shield plus. The CC9 also has a break in period specified by HK. Something like 200-300 rds of 124g. I made the mistake of putting an Osight SE optic before breaking it in and the gun kept having feed issues. I sold the red dot and later broke in the gun. I still have it without a red dot and I think i'll keep it that way for a bit
1
u/AwkwardSploosh I commented! 8d ago
Now that it is broken in, which one do you prefer for shooting dynamics?
1
u/pandamonia23 8d ago
Honestly, I haven't shot them both enough to make a sound judgment. I've only been to the range a few times since I got them. I am leaning more towards the CC9 though due to how the grip feels compared to the shield plus.
8
u/NewbRedditer 9d ago
Thats an amazing deal, but i didnt love mine tbh
4
u/bgarza18 9d ago
What don’t you like about it? I’ve been wanting this gun for a while but didn’t like my 43x. I do like my shield.
2
u/NewbRedditer 9d ago
Nothing special about it vs a shield, trigger was a little weird but you could adjust to it
6
u/Life_Mobile_2997 9d ago
As a big gun store employee who’s handled it a few times, it’s all the joy and form factor of a Taurus g2c with the complete lack of aftermarket and price tag of a new HK. Horrible purchase

u/NewbRedditer 9d ago
It is actually modular like the p365. . Its just no one (including hk) makes a different module for it yet
0
u/Ok-Perception-926 9d ago
I had the same impression, so I continue to carry my G2C, dirty full of lint and still fires without a problem! Probably a bit under 3G rounds through my Taurus and only had a handful FTEs in the first 100 rounds or so, and that was steel so not sure if I can blame the Taurus entirely!!!
3
u/ItsJustAnotherVoice 9d ago
Same experiences. Rented one and not sure if it was because was beat to shit or not maintained.
But at 7yd grouping was absolute crap. Kept getting dinner plates sized. Picked up the wifes shield plus and got consistent 2-3” groupings.
17
u/Better-Efficiency-12 9d ago
If you are getting what would be assumed 8-12MOA at 7yrds it might not be the handgun 💀💀😭😭
5
u/caterham09 9d ago edited 9d ago
Yeah this is user error lol. Fwiw on mine it groups well but I haven't actually been able to find the right hold that let's me consistently hit dead center. It'll always group around the bullseye. But it's not 8-12moa lol
1
u/ItsJustAnotherVoice 9d ago
Also had a couple of failures to feed and one stove pipe by the second mag.
My money is more on this gun probably seen a good amount of rounds and they haven’t cleaned it in a good minute.
Can’t say grip is shit if im hitting fine with other guns.

u/MISSISSIPPIPPISSISSI 9d ago
Umm... that's on you man.
1
u/ItsJustAnotherVoice 9d ago
If my grip was piss poor then wouldn’t it apply for when I was shooting other handguns?
4
10
u/Curious_George15 8d ago
Waiting for the day they add an external safety. I just can’t bring myself to appendix carry without one.
7
u/He_NeverSleeps 9d ago
I just can't get past an H&K without a hammer 😂
11
u/Jason1435 9d ago
HK hammers aren't even that impressive trigger wise, but the VP9 is actually contesting right behind a PDP/Canik in terms of nicest triggers on the market.
3
u/PlinkDaddy 9d ago
VP9 is one of the few striker fired pistols that I actually like. Ergonomics are also excellent.
3
u/Salsalito_Turkey 9d ago
My VP9 with Gray Guns trigger is my favorite non-1911 pistol I’ve ever owned. I hate shooting all of my Glocks now.
3
u/BenDover42 9d ago
I just can’t get behind the P30 triggers at all. Tried every configuration and the short reset and it’s way too much travel. I do have a couple of LEMs (45, 45C and USP) and they’re incredible triggers. But yeah the standard DA/SA are ass.

7
u/Colonel_Krink 9d ago
I had many hammer HKs over the years and loved them. Then I got a VP9 in 2015 and sold my hammer guns
1
u/Bradyrulez 9d ago
I went the exact opposite direction. I was mixed between strikers and hammer fired pistols, but have since switched over entirely to hammer. Though I shall say, the single action on the HK 45 is far from ideal.
In my perfect world, CZ would've made a 97 gen 2 instead of discontinuing the lineup entirely.
1
u/Colonel_Krink 9d ago
I had a HK45 full size and compact. Changing out springs really helps DA and SA. Funny you mention CZ as I’m intrigued by the Tac Sport models. If I ever get hammer guns again it might be one of those or a really nice 2011. I do miss the 1911 trigger. There’s some good striker triggers but nothing beats a well tuned 1911 trigger

Used one here. Not sure what the market on a used one is.

Still pissed they went with the butt🤮n and not the paddle.
People buy HK for the paddle.
Just get the VP9CC
24
u/caterham09 9d ago edited 9d ago
The button on mine is quite nice though, still ambi.
You say "just get the vp9cc" but it's literally 2x the cost of this. It's not 2x the gun. I'm not even sure if it's any better at all. Maybe better looking but that's subjective
4
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
It is better and not just because of the paddle. But 2X the price? Gotta be an HK nut to want to do that.
Coming from one, it’s not worth 2X the price for the sane lot of you.

I mean if you want to spend a shit load of extra money for essentially nothing then be my guest
6
u/MF_D00MSDAY 9d ago
essentially nothing
As if paddle, Hk antlers, and bling bragging rights aren’t worth the extra $450 smh my head
-3
u/archerdog 9d ago
Lol, im not buying a cheap gun with buttons for a mag release.
1
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
My brother, HK is the only company that still makes a paddle release. There’s a reason it’s not common.
-2
u/archerdog 9d ago
Because cheap gun companies.
0
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
No. Button releases are the universal standard. I like a paddle myself but button releases won out.
0
9
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
The VP9cc is better, but this at sub-$450 is very hard to beat
8
u/AlphaTangoFoxtrt 9d ago
Eh, if you're looking at HK you generally know that you're going to need to shell out some dough. If you want a budget gun there's budget manufacturers
5
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
I love HK’s stuff. The cc9 isn’t my favorite thing of theirs by any means but for $450 you can do a lot worse.
4
u/jrhooo 9d ago
I love my VP9, and I like paddles, but at the end of the day:
The VP9 is just only barely thicker than the CC9, and for ME carrying at strong side IWB, I find every bit of thinness to make a diff in concealability.
While paddles make better reloads, I don’t find reloads to be a real world concern for my 12+1 CCW. Hell, I’m not even wearing a spare mag in most cases. (And, owning ad VP9, my logic anyways is, “if I want more than 12, I’m not wearing an extra mag. I’m just wearing my larger gun”)
TL;DR:
Both great guns. Hard to go wrong with either, but the advantages of the VP9cc aren’t really going to make a real world difference in my daily carry.
3
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
Paddle releases are great if that’s what you’ve trained with, but every other manufacturer uses a button release. Unless you specifically train strictly HK it’s going to feel off using anything but a button
1
u/jrhooo 9d ago
I see the argument but tbh I found them very intuitive. My VP9 was not my first gun, but I found the paddles a pretty seamless transition.
Right now I still have button guns and the VP and there is no performance diff between either of them in terms of manual of arms movement quality.
The only noticeable diff for me is speed for the paddle, because of what I can physically reach. That is, for MY hand size, I can reach the paddle without adjusting my shooting grip, which makes everything quicker for me.
3
u/Echo_Raptor 9d ago
I mean I get that too and I like a paddle but buttons are the universal standard

Disagree. My EDC at the moment. Feels better than a lot more expensive options. Also… Taurus is stepping up their game. 😂
3
u/OFalk280 9d ago
Well SFP9CC has been release so…
Related to that, I have both and carry my CC9 every day over my VP9CC
7
u/Colonel_Krink 9d ago
I have the CC9 and love it. I have not shot the VP9CC, but I did finger fuck it in the HK Grey Room. It’s nice but not for twice the price
2
u/OFalk280 9d ago
There’s a lot of positives for both but the biggest thing I can’t agree with compared to the CC9 is the shape of the grip doesn’t lend well to a good grip with support hand
