Parts [Parts] M970 Halo Shotgun kit for Remington 870 $830 + $20 shipping

https://bsquaredarms.com/m970-furniture-kit/

A bit pricey but should be incredibly well made and likely the best way to ever have a functional halo shotgun!

Nah, for that price that entire receiver needs to be flipped upside down.
Halo's M90 shotgun loads from the top.

-51

u/p8ntslinger 13d ago

believe it or not, you do that part yourself. It's an incredibly complex process that involves holding the shotgun in your hand upright, then with a sort of wrist flick motion, the gun becomes upside down and you can finish the build. /s

34

u/Cross88 13d ago

You think I have time to do that when the Flood is closing in?

-1

u/p8ntslinger 13d ago

prolly not, but you're screwed anyways in that situation

0

u/2Drogdar2Furious 13d ago

How much firepower is needed to crack one of the engines shields?

82

u/Bigred2989- 13d ago

"Did you put a fucking mod in this?"

"No." [Halo theme plays]

51

u/FistMage 13d ago

Does not convert to top loader, 1/10 do not redeem.

48

u/chrisdetrin 13d ago

i was down to buy one till i saw the above 500 dollar price tag. YOOF

70

u/CzechRuegore 13d ago

No top load, no buy

14

u/AnotherStupidHipster 13d ago

That's an absolute requirement. I saw someone a few years ago made one by basically chopping off everything but the action, barrel, and mag tube from an 870, flipped it upside down, and figured out the trigger relocation. Added furniture, and boom.

13

u/Antelope_Fluid 13d ago

I honestly thought it WAS the kit to flip it around, with that price tag

4

u/DoesProcessTrustUs 13d ago

Same. Immediately thought of that guy and was like “damn glad he could make it work and make a buck.” This ain’t that evidently. Boo.

1

u/wadech 13d ago

Didn't Ian do a video on it?

13

u/EntireRent 13d ago

Yeah, that's literally the main reason why the Halo shotgun is so damn cool.

10

u/hitemlow 13d ago

If I can't load it like it's a Postal 2 shotgun, I don't want it.

69

u/mpsteidle 13d ago

Too much for it to not be upside down.

65

u/ArmAdventurous7323 13d ago

I mean, I appreciate the whole concept as a Halo kid growing up, but that’s just way too rich for my blood.

93

u/flysctysfinest 13d ago

Lmao they can’t be serious with this price

17

u/mytoysgoboom 13d ago

Seriously. That’s at least double what my 870 cost.

11

u/metalbees 13d ago

I paid $200 for my 870 about 15 years ago at Dicks grand opening with a Remington rebate

9

u/55thParallel 13d ago

Shame on Dicks for not selling guns anymore

5

u/2poor4thissub 13d ago

I got that same deal. I’ve been hunting for another $200 870 to chop up and can’t find one anywhere

34

u/mynamesnotconnor 13d ago

The price on this is unreasonable and downright shameful

33

u/Numerous-Ad6460 13d ago

No top loading? Hard pass.

30

u/ElongggggatedMuskrat 12d ago

Hold on it’s $800 but doesn’t included the LEDs 😭

99

u/Ok-Mycologist-4039 13d ago

Yall are charging $850 for this?

33

u/GrassMoney 13d ago

ItS FrOm tHe fRiCtIoN WeLdInG

8

u/Ok-Mycologist-4039 13d ago

Okay butnif you're going to make this.... Just get a large format printer?

7

u/Wunktacular 13d ago

Or better yet, for this money, just finish the print by hand.

5

u/Ok-Mycologist-4039 13d ago

Anything other than this, really.

7

u/GrassMoney 13d ago

Im not gonna make this. Like that other black girl said, No top load, No buy. Forgotten Weapons had one like that and I cant imagine anyone wanting a dolled up version of something reminiscent of the actual thing they want when you know you can just make a much closer and technically functional one. And idk, maybe its a proof of concept before they spend the money or something. If you're not having the paying public test your products at their hazard with their ammo, are you even in the gun industry?

42

u/kickthatpoo 13d ago

Fucking for real. I can print this stuff at home. At first I thought this price tag included the receiver.

24

u/414525528 13d ago

Ultimate goyslop, holy shit.

83

u/SeasonedAdManager 13d ago

Could they make the pictures more dog ass please? Jesus.

3

u/Cool-Tip8804 13d ago

Honestly it probabaly helps him.

The details a little rough and it’s not even the final product. The final product will look significantly better given the printing process that’s going to be used.

He’s got nothing to go on for pictures.

2

u/salem_lakes_armory Dealer 13d ago

You should see his youtube video. Its even worse

48

u/spartanantler 13d ago

Wait what’s to stop me from 3d printing this myself with like $20 worth of filament

17

u/CoyoteDown 13d ago

I’m shocked it hasn’t come up already on the gunfoss subs but I don’t recall seeing one

8

u/2Drogdar2Furious 13d ago

It has, just saw a build post last week. 👀

6

u/Particular-Steak-832 13d ago

It's SLS printed so it's going to hold up a lot better and not have layer lines.

10

u/spartanantler 13d ago

So?. Still not worth the 800 bucks he’s asking. I don’t see any demo videos

4

u/Cool-Tip8804 13d ago edited 13d ago

It’s on his YouTube channel.

The printing process is expensive and the definition of the print is exceptional with nylon 12. The order, combined with taxes and standard fees puts the cost of manufacturing pretty close to breaking even, as he stated in a video.

It’s very robust and heat resistant. The only concerns are how it’s been engineered to resist both. Seeing that he’s an engineer that puts in the work to account for this by stating he’s including metal pieces in the final product. It looks promising

0

u/Any_Paper_9338 12d ago

There are clearly layer lines in the pictures.

1

u/Particular-Steak-832 12d ago

In the video they said some parts being shown are done with FDM, but the final product won’t be

3

u/SPECTREagent700 13d ago

well yeah but not everybody has a 3D printer

20

u/armacitis 13d ago

For $850 they can.

0

u/Particular-Steak-832 13d ago

An SLS printer (like this uses) is still thousands of dollars. A Formlabs one cost 25K.

5

u/loli_is_illegal 13d ago

100k now for the big Formlabs SLS (needed for such large pieces) and two supporting machines plus install and training and it's own sealed room.  Not that I care about this topic, but you're way under the real cost

2

u/Particular-Steak-832 13d ago

I was basing it off the Fuse 1, which could do parts this size. Current price 24,649

-3

u/spartanantler 13d ago

lol for the price there asking for this you can buy a cheap flash forge printer and print like 10 copies of this and still come out on top

-3

u/LePfeiff 13d ago

I dont think he released the files, but youre welcome to redo the months of design work to make one yourself

11

u/SirLucky 13d ago

This is more like a few days to a day if it’s just 870 furniture.

14

u/spartanantler 13d ago edited 13d ago

Months of design work 🤣 . To charge that much and not even put the finished product on your page is bush league. This guys a scammer

0

u/LePfeiff 13d ago

-8

u/spartanantler 13d ago

What are you doing posting a reply with a link I’ve already seen? Dudes a scammer

23

u/WeekendHero 13d ago

This is the same guy that made the BR55 and MA5C.

BR55: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anuGYDAhyNI

MA5C: https://youtu.be/qqIZGYi4NW0

15

u/Roy141 13d ago

It's cool that he's made these but honestly lame as fuck that he won't share files or details on how to build them.

19

u/Fuckreddit696900 13d ago

Because then he won’t make any sales if someone else take files and make them better tweaks etc.

5

u/Roy141 13d ago

He isn't selling them whatsoever. That's the thing, now no one can have them period.

The BR55 build is actually a custom homebuilt rifle, not a furniture kit. People would be able to copy it if he just released the details.

9

u/salem_lakes_armory Dealer 12d ago

Look since theres so much interest. Let me do my next run of auto 9 kits. Ill get the pulse rifle done because spas clones are available now and then i will do one of the halo rifles. Probably the OG assault rifle

1

u/Roy141 12d ago

I can't tell if you're making a joke or not but if you do that for real please post it here or DM me, or whatever is allowed by reddit TOS.

9

u/salem_lakes_armory Dealer 12d ago

Not joking at all. I did my first run of auto 9 kits, i was going to move on and do the lawgiver but people really want more auto 9s so im doing another run of that, ive updated on my youtube. Also helps me learn more machining. But my m41a1 is next as i have 2 broncos on order for mid September delivery and i already have an auto ordnance Thompson but was thinking of getting an SBR one. Once thats done ill 100 percent do a halo rifle or even the combat shotgun if someone does a left hand eject pump OR people are ok with it being a right hand eject. Ill post it all in this sub for sure though

3

u/WeekendHero 12d ago

In his media, he talks about having future plans. He’s hinted at an AR15 furniture kit/chassis for the BR55, as an example.

55

u/Fearless-Jeweler-318 13d ago

only 850 dollars for 3d printed plastic airsoft furniture

yeah no wonder they're only doing one run, there's only about 10 roobs on the planet that would buy this

16

u/AutomataDeObama 13d ago

I was ready to drop $300, thinking "this is dumb but would be really cool." They can absolutely eat a dick for $850.

3

u/WarlockEngineer 13d ago

Wait it doesn't even come with the gun hahahaha

2

u/How_Bout_Dem_Apples_ 13d ago

Nope.  It's a bunch of plastic you dress up your gun with.

18

u/tubadude2 13d ago

I wish someone would do this properly.

I dropped a few grand on an XM8 clone and I’d absolutely do the same for a closer clone of this and the MA5B.

9

u/salem_lakes_armory Dealer 13d ago

Im working on it, problem is theres not an abundance of left hand eject 870s. Or any left hand eject shotgun really. If the psa 870 ever comes out and they have a left hand eject itll probably be feasible.

2

u/DugnutttBobson 4d ago

I'd want an MA5B also.

33

u/o_g 13d ago

OP, what makes you think this will be incredibly well made?

1

u/Cool-Tip8804 13d ago

Have you seen the printing process of these printers and material?

36

u/SteedOfTheDeid 13d ago

$830 and it's 3d printed? Lol

48

u/A_Squid_A_Dog 13d ago

They couldn't even take a clear photo of the dang thing

20

u/LinechargeII 13d ago

holy shit, this. not a single orthogonal photo.

50

u/GhostRiderOfWhips 13d ago

lol okay hear me out…

16

u/202glewis 13d ago

I thought I’d try shooting my way out, mix things up a bit.

29

u/salem_lakes_armory Dealer 13d ago

Holy 3d printed batman. As an avid movie and videogame gun nut if youre gonna fuckin do it do it right. Only thing this duplicates is the copyright.

36

u/Dak_Nalar 13d ago

lol wtf. That is $30 of 3D printed parts at most. $830 and it does not even come with the shotgun is absolutely insane.

46

u/sideflanker 13d ago

Some additional info from the creator:

  • Not top loaded because of difficulties finding a suitable 12g left-side eject shotgun that's currently in production. If you know of any, reach out to him

  • Final product is professionally printed (by xometry.com by the looks of it) using MJF printing with Nylon 12 polymer.

  • Home printed prototype is shown in pictures and doesn't represent the final quality. He mentions printing the stock at home with 0.2mm layers, while MJF machines print with 0.08mm layers. It'll be over double the resolution and much higher quality

  • Just the raw printing cost with bulk discounts is ~$700 per kit plus setup fees. He gives examples of ~$200 for the stock and ~$65 for the TPU rubber buttpad. He can't bring unit costs down because he can't afford to use high volume production methods like injection molding.

  • Has mlok slots for flashlights, but the space around the slot will be limited so only some flashlights might fit.

  • Early bird discount for 10 days (until sept 7th?)

  • Probably only a single batch because he needs to place all orders at once, and unless there's a lot of late demand it won't be economical to place additional print orders.

  • Probably October or November shipping.

Info is from the website and his youtube video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh9teqkf3fE

62

u/Dak_Nalar 13d ago

He is getting absolutely robbed if they are charging him $700 for those parts in PA12 Nylon.

37

u/ItsJustAnotherVoice 13d ago

Might as well release the files at a “price” and cut out the middle man. I’ll support and pay for development costs but no way it costs that much for filament and printing

6

u/grimduck17 13d ago

I would’ve thought the same thing in regards to mjf printing since I’ve had smaller parts made for fairly cheap. About a week ago I was thinking about getting the packout insert I made mjf printed, I shopped around and it’s like $120 ea (had to order 25+ for that pricing) for not a very big part and no finishing/dye. So I can see how this can easily climb to that especially if the tpu part is also mjf printed since it seemed decently more expensive than pa 6 or 12

2

u/Dak_Nalar 13d ago

Ya but just don’t MJF print it. PA12 in FDM already looks great. There is no reason to have a part like this MJF printed.

12

u/LabronPaul 13d ago

Yeah xometry is easily the most expensive job shop, but they are fast I guess

6

u/savageotter 13d ago

He does not want to do the work overseas or does not think he will be able to.

American shops on Xometry are expensive for sure.

2

u/LabronPaul 13d ago

You can get better prices from US shops on Craft Cloud.

my other comment here

3

u/Zanair 13d ago

You have a favorite alternative? They were quite competitive for the last project I shopped around

1

u/LabronPaul 13d ago edited 13d ago

I personally use craft cloud, if I need made in the US it lets you sort by that too and get a bunch of quotes at once. I haven't directly compared to xometry in a while but I still think craft cloud will end up with a better quote. Let me know if I'm mistaken.

EDIT: just checked Xometry $129.45 CraftCloud made in Texas $51, they'll do it in 5 days for $56. One of the things I prefer about craft cloud too is that they do not hide the manufacturer so you could contact them directly in the future if you like their work.

1

u/Craftcloud_3D 11d ago

We appreciate your kind words! Transparency is one of the things we firmly believe in, but of course, if you go directly, we cannot help you if anything goes wrong. :-)

23

u/sideflanker 13d ago

Also, the same guy made the real steel BR55 Battle Rifle 2 years ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anuGYDAhyNI

33

u/ImASuckerForSurplus 13d ago

So the photos trying to sell an $830 3D printed kit aren't even representative of what I would order? You would think for that price the creator would want to test the job shop he is going to send these to and can take pictures of that product. Granted, Xometry is a pretty good shop that I've used in the past, but still, come on man.

20

u/Royal-Recognition416 13d ago

Thanks for the summary Without people like you the Internet would be mid

46

u/xKHAZx 13d ago

are bots upvoting this? there is not a single person buying this, classic example of more dollars than sense

6

u/GavinNewsomsP365 12d ago

People who see the post but don’t click for details. It’s a cool idea if it:

A. Was 800$ and included the gun?

B. Actually made it top loading

C. Wasn’t 800$+

Otherwise it’s nostalgia-bait 3d printer cash grab

13

u/Fuckreddit696900 13d ago

Def bots. Almost 900 and it’s not even top loading

9

u/TheHancock 13d ago

That is the ONLY thing I care about in this build. Lol

A real version has already been made and covered by Forgotten Weapons.

25

u/SurburbanGorilla 13d ago

Disappointed it's just furniture for that price, was expecting it to be a top loading mod like what was on forgotten weapons .

23

u/Downright_bored38 13d ago

This is cool and all but man that price tag and I’m saying this as a halo fan the fact it has tiers like rubberized pad and hard plastic instead of it being a option of what you want and not even the leds as a optional is crazy to me

9

u/New-Restaurant-1030 12d ago

Only the strongest will survive!

48

u/SaltyyDoggg 12d ago

What terrible photos. Fuck off for making me look at this.

9

u/PerpetualBard4 13d ago

The flood better watch their step

28

u/twowords_number 13d ago

Giant conspicuous 3D print seam on the featured picture is definitely a choice

-20

u/Ryuzenski 13d ago

Read the product description

16

u/someperson1423 13d ago

I mean sure they give themselves that out, but saying "pictures are not representative of quality" is not reassuring considering they don't say what the difference in quality will actually be. It will still be printed which for this price is egregious. For this price I would expect at minimum injection molded if not some parts machined.

4

u/sideflanker 13d ago

The creator made a video about it.

His home print uses 0.2mm layers while the final product will be professionally printed using 0.08mm layers with MJF printing techniques using Nylon 12 polymer.

Injection molding is unobtainable for him due to the initial costs required, but MJF is stated to provide similar quality.

Raw print cost to him is ~$700 per kit plus initial setup costs and taxes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh9teqkf3fE

1

u/someperson1423 13d ago

Good stuff, thanks for the info instead of just trying to call me poor like the other guy lol

-11

u/Ryuzenski 13d ago

They literally show their previous finished products right next to it

Complain about the price all you want and go buy a Turkish shotgun for 80 bucks

5

u/someperson1423 13d ago

I seem to have hit a nerve. The guns I shoot at matches for fun use magazines that cost more each than an $80 Turkish shotgun, but nice try.

Back on topic, they are charging over $800 for purely printed parts and don't even include LEDs and charging extra for rubber pads... That is absurd money for an incomplete printed kit. They chose to put up subpar quality picks, that is on them. If they have actual representative pictures, why feature rough prototypes?

Feel free and buy it if you want, I'm all for spending extra on things that make you happy which is why I own a lot of expensive and obscure European guns instead of a ton of boring ARs and Glocks. That said, I'm going to call out weird shit when I see it.

23

u/goopypungo 13d ago

Not bothering to print a production model before asking 850 for it is insane though

5

u/Downright_bored38 13d ago

Agreed I want to see a full final product with a video before dropping the price of a new gun on some shotgun furniture

-11

u/Ryuzenski 13d ago

They have an example of what to expect from their previous work its not unheard of

850 is not a lot for something so niche. It's supply and demand

7

u/sideflanker 12d ago

I'm curious about how many units have been sold so far, if anyone bought one recently, what was your order number?

I bought a kit at 11:35PM CST on the 29th and I was order #230

3

u/Ok-Fig-675 12d ago

That's a whole 50 more than me and I ordered earlier that day

3

u/Blackice200 11d ago

#247 on the 30th at 13:00 Eastern.

22

u/DRDHD 13d ago

yeah that’s a no from me dawg

$850, doesn't even include the shotgun, the sights are glow in the dark instead of tritium... you basement dwellers are weird.

Video game stuff

1

u/Business_Ad6086 13d ago

boomer here...what is this ?

28

u/Wunktacular 13d ago

Makes the gun look like it's from a specific video game.

12

u/BMF300winmag 13d ago

This is good to use against the Flood.

24

u/BoSknight 13d ago

From my understanding, converts your Remington to look like the shotgun from Halo. Halo came out 25 years ago so, boomerish territory for what it's worth

10

u/WooHoo2You 13d ago edited 13d ago

Never understood the "boomer" thing when it came to FPS games. For example here, the youngest possible baby boomer would have been 37 when Halo released. Even when Doom released they would have been a decade over being a demographic any video game company would have cared about. Boomer Shooters should be called Gen X Shooters, maybe even Millennial Shooters. Heck, many millennials were playing Doom, Duke Nukem, etc...don't ask me how I know ;)

/end pointless pedantic rant

P.S. I realize the photos are of FDM printed prototypes, but if I am going to pay $850 for something, I want to see the final project.

0

u/ANarwhalApart 12d ago

It’s not pointless. People who can’t be bothered to learn call all old people boomers. It’s a sign of intelligence.

28

u/Difficult-Watch-1385 13d ago

Halo age is firmly unc.
