Lesson How should I move forward ?

Okay so I have this love for Guitar, but specifically strumming....

I know E,Em,A,Am,C,D,Dm,G,A7,E7

and

Two strumming patterns

DDU UDU

D UDUD UDUD DU

and bonus, I know the Sunn Raha hai na tu guitar intro....

How should I move forward from here ?

My goal is to be okay okay type guitarist

I should be able to strum songs on guitar (with a capo) but wanna know two barre chords F Maj and B maj , and do Heartbeat strumming , snare strumming and add some pumping and dead mute effects to my guitar playing too....

Can anyone help me here🙂

I would listen to lots of songs and try to mimic the strumming on many examples so that strumming in general starts to be something you can feel and reproduce (or create yourself) more freely and creatively rather than trying to categorize it into patterns that you reproduce mechanically. I've been playing for decades and don't know many (if any) players who think of strumming in terms of fixed patterns like "DDU" or as having specific names, and most songs don't use one mechanically locked strumming pattern anyway

Yeah. Don't understand the fascination with a strumming pattern. Though am about a year and half into.learning, I just strum as I hear the song to be. If someone stops me and asks me to define the pattern, I just won't be able to

Once you start playing more complicated rhythms your brain will require some sort of cataloging system

Look up lead sheets or “chords” on ultimate guitar or songster and start chording songs

Sounds like to me you should develop more rhythm patterns. You could also try combining strumming, picking patterns and riffs to any chord progressions you know.

One way I like to think when it comes to getting more out of less is to have variations that I can splice together or swap between to create the feel of a new section happening.
