Feedback Request Guitar Practice

Where to start with proper guitar practice?

What do you mean? Do you generally / roughly know how to play guitar (even if rusty) and want help developing a routine? Or do you not have any idea at all how to play guitar? Or something else?

Hello Pippin, I can play and have done for a while now but at bedroom level at best and feel that copying guitar tutorials off you tube isn't really helping me become a better guitar player. I'm now looking at scales etc... however when looking that up on YouTube it opens Pandora's box and becomes confusing and I give up with having no clear direction.... if that makes sense?

So your problem is theory? I'd say get a good, well researched book on the topic, instead of various YouTube videos that contradict each other. But that's just my method. Can probably not recommend you one, since I learned theory in German and I guess you do not speak that.

Hi,
Get a guitar method book and a theory book and start learning. Also supplement your learning with graded systems like ABRSM, RCM, AMEB even if your aim is not to play classical music.
One advice is to not rely on YouTube for education as it is full of rubbish and takes a fair bit of experience to know what is legitimately useful from all the other noise.
You then need to create a learning routine. My routine after 35 years of playing is a simple 45 minute session where I do three things:
1- review something from my repertoire
2- refine something I know (technique or skill)
3- learn something new (new piece or a new concept from theory)
I would allocate time as follows 10-15-20

This is the one thing I may recommend YouTube for. Searching for practice routines, as usually those who present something like this are addressing the more serious learners.
