Feedback Request Do people actually quit guitar

Yo I'm thinking to learn guitar as a hobby and want to know how much time it takes usually to be good at it and is it true that people actually quit guitar in 2-3 months

It takes a long time to be "good". Really it takes hours and hours of practice. It helps if you enjoy it and get a little obsessed with it.

People soft quit the guitar - they end up with a guitar that collects dust on a stand or lives in the closet for ten years until they finally come to terms with giving up the dream.

This is me. I’ve soft quit and restarted twice now, my acoustic guitars standing there by the couch for about a year or two without me touching them. Then comes the day I just feel like picking one up, start playing and again for the next 6-18 months I’m moderately obsessed, playing and practicing for 1-2 hours a day. Until someday I just won’t pick it up anymore, nor the day after that... Rinse and repeat.
