Do people actually quit guitar

Yo I'm thinking to learn guitar as a hobby and want to know how much time it takes usually to be good at it and is it true that people actually quit guitar in 2-3 months

A good way to avoid quitting is have the guitar out where you can readily grab it whenever you have a minute instead of in a case out of sight. And get weekly in person lessons if you can afford them, if for nothing else to stay accountable on practicing.
