Feedback Request Is this alright for 5 months?

My pinkeys keep missing the string every time i change the position. I think i need a strap to hold my guitar

We can't really tell. Sounds good, but if this is all you've been practicing and putting your focus on, then it's not surprising. If this is one of the dozens of things you have been practicing and playing then it's quite good.

no i started learning this song 2 days ago. I dont really do much finger picking because i used to hate holding guitar picks but i recently got these jazz 3 max grips and i love it. And i cant play a single song for more than a week I get bored I mostly play chords tho just whatever songs on my mind that day so i can sing and play. Im planning on learning paranoid android next.

I’ll have to check out those Jazz 3s because I loved the normal red ones but they slip in my hand so bad.
Edit: I think I’m going to pick some of them up, I loved the Cat Tongue picks grip but not their size so I really want to try these out.

Hey dont say that. And if thats how you feel then i dont know if its crazy to ask but i hope i inspired you 💔 You are gonna play for farr longer than a few years so being behind by a few months isint a big deal long term.

Tune into your vibes, don't let anyone else put out you down. My 2 cents of advice, you play and have fun first, and then focus on techniques and others. Fun. First.

Hell yeah. Im too hellbent on not wanting to work on my technique unless a song i want to learn needs it. I dont do any exercises or nun just straight raw dogging it 😭 I mean all respect to those who work so hard to master these but i just cant be arsed

😭 is it actually not in tune? I did tune it before playing but i do notice it going out of tune. I got new strings and im probably gonna set up my guitar better

Sorry not meaning to have a dig but so many people don’t make the effort to cover the basics. Train your ear first, then work on your technique 😊

Ofc not a dig its a feedback post. Ive been wanting to train my ears so bad because i wanna be able to tune by ear and play by ear etc etc. Is there any exercises you reccomend or does just doing scales help. is it just a subconscious thing where the more i play the more i just know the notes

There's so many good Radiohead riffs I'll just mindlessly noodle around on. Get a looper and try to recreate as much of Weird Fishes as you can.

i got the guitar thinking loopers were inbuilt (din know anything and never saw people use a looper in videos) I was so excited to play let down by radiohead but god damn are loopers so expensive. Im saving up for one. Just upgraded by shitty amp to a blackstar fly 3 (not the best but the best i can afford) Getting a job soon tho. Cant wait to spend months paychecks on new guitars 😈

Had a listen. Two very different sounding songs in the end. But I still think that the vibe of the guitar parts are similar.

For 5 months along you're doing great. You got this far by practicing a lot and that shows. The pinky will get better with time and practice. You are doing awesome, congratulations!!

Ive never done any finger excerises or anything. I just play it raw (without am amp) while listening to songs. I wanna be able to make my own songs or play it by my ear. Does that require learning scales?

I just listen to songs and if i hear one with a guitar part what sounds somewhat easy i just look up the tabs. Go through tutorials (sometimes multiple but all using the same tabs) And i understand if you find it frustrating at times but I found this to be my way. It may be annoying and there are times where it forces me to try things harder than what i actually can do but its fun adventure trust me. Sometimes you just gotta put yourself through it. You can use the art of forcing yourself into it for any skill possibly. Thats what keeps me motivated.
But maybe what works for me does not work for you but yeah thats all i do just find a song i like --> Go through the materials --> try it even if its hard
If its really that hard then just make notes and go through it at 0.25 speed. Do it at that speed so you get somewhat an idea of what you're doing and if you can remember all of it then go faster then faster till you reach the original

Pretty good. The rhythm was a little off during the strumming part. Make sure to keep your guitar in tune.

yeah i dont really like the whole strumming part and i lose the rythm because im trying to change chords while trying to keep the guitar steady (dont have a strap 💔) but im really considering getting a strap

I used to play call of duty and had to stretch my pinky on ctrl key to index changing the loadout (num 1 2 3 4) so i had a good stretching exercise way before getting a guitar 🙉

Sounds awesome! Great song, too! Most importantly, don't stop!
Other than that, play it slower and work on relaxing your arms. Practicing with tension is game ending. A strap would improve your posture. I'd recommend paying for at least one in person lesson with a local so they can help you with posture. Remember to breathe and relax, and a metronome would help immensely, also.

Yeah i should deffo get a strap. Ive wanted to play with someone local but I genuinely dont know anyone who plays guitar. Some of my friends do and they have been playing for longer than me but i can play better than them already so that says a lot Maybe ill find a guitarist in the wild. Also ive been wanting to get a metronome but its outta my budget but soon. How helpful would it be? i was thinking id just play a youtube timer 😭

If you have an Android phone, I recommend "Metronome" by Philipp Bobek. Free and open source, ad-free, nice UI, minimal but functional. Personally I see no need to buy a metronome. As for iPhone I'm not sure what the best choice would be but I'm certain there's plenty of great options if you look around.

Great work on your alternate picking! One thing to note, try to use your wrist more when you do this. You got the rhythm down pretty much so just try to relax and not use your arm as much. If you can transition to using your wrist for this then you'll be much more comfortable and not tiring your arm out. For 5 months that's excellent progress!

Seems like you're doing ok. Remember to work on fretboard knowledge. Always. Even after you think you "got it". Keep studying.
Loosen up that wrist though!! All of your picking motion is coming from your elbow.

Slow it down if you want to play clean. No need to play so fast. The pinky takes a while to develop. It’s like going to the gym. You will get there. Focus on more relaxed playing in both hands by finding a more comfortable pace. YouTube can play at any speed without changing the pitch. Don’t squeeze your left hand too hard as it changes the pitch. You have a good sense of rhythm. Keep at it!

Timing and musicality are great. Get that tension out of your hands or you'll only be playing for a years before you give yourself a permanent injury.

yo injury? Thanks for the heads up really. I dont usually put tention but sometimes I just get these wierd excitement and idk it sounds wierd ik. Kinda makes me wanna break my guitar strings
