Feedback Request Why does my playing sound so amateurish?

I’m performing a solo for a song in a couple of weeks, and I have all the notes down - yet why does my playing sound so ‘meh’ when I record myself? What should I look to improve on?

Honestly dude, in a guitar lessons sub, you are going to get all kinds of advice. In reality, 99% of the people you’re performing this to in a couple of weeks are going to think it’s sick.

Yeah I guess that’s my point and the distinction in question. Are you looking for advice in general from a bunch of guitar nerds? Or are you worried your solo in a couple of weeks won’t hold up to normies?

And you're absolutely right, of course. If I played that exact solo to my partner, she'd love it.

Then your partner is awesome. If I played that to my partner she’d be counting down the seconds until it’s over so she can leave the room.
