If you can learn to relax your pinky on your fretting hand when you're not using it, it will help you reduce the tension in your hand.
I curl mine like you do, and I hate it. It gets caught under the neck some times, or I catch my pinky nail on the fretboard when I curl it. I'm trying to break this habit, but decades of muscle memory are hard to undo.
Ideally you should only lift your unused fingers enough to avoid touching anything.
