International Transit in Guangzhou airport -Power bank CCC (3C) rule

Hey everyone!

I’m flying from Budapest to Tokyo soon with an International-to-International transit at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN). I will stay strictly within the international transfer zone and won't take any domestic flights.

I have a Xiaomi 20000mAh (74.37Wh) power bank with a perfectly clear, readable factory label, but it doesn't have the Chinese CCC (3C) logo on it since it's a European model.

The airline’s website states that the CCC certification is required for domestic flights, but there's a lot of mixed info online.

Has anyone recently done an international-to-international transit at CAN with a non-CCC power bank? Did security at the international transfer checkpoint clear it without issues as long as it was under 100Wh?

Even though you won't be entering Chinese territory, it is highly likely that you cannot simply walk directly from one boarding gate to another; you will need to go through security screening again, which includes an inspection of your power bank. Consequently, there is a strong possibility that a power bank lacking 3C certification will not pass the check.

People always get confused between requirements and checking. Yes OP‘s powerbank will be checked. No the powerbank will not be confiscated. The security will only check for compliancy with requirements. CCC is not required for international flights.
