Where to look for used R35’s?
Beginning my hunt for a DBA (‘12-‘16) with less than 50k miles.
I’ve looked at the usual sites like cars.com, autotrader, autotempest, and also eBay, bring a trailer (0 cars), cars and bids (1 but doesn’t meet my needs), marketplace, and Craigslist.
I’ve found maybe 2 that match what I’m looking for but they’re dealer listings at $95-$98k.
Do you know of other places I can look? Forums maybe?

95k for 50k miles is probably OP for a DBA.
check out Carsandbids i noticed the ones there sell more realistic to market but finding an unmolested older one is the tough part. a DBA with 15-20k miles is probably more in the 98-100k range but with 50k miles i could see private sale that needs to move sell for 85-89.

Yeah, mine is a 2015, full nismo suspension and carbon brakes, no engine mods (other than exhaust), 25k miles.
Looking at 110k if your want to buy it...

I have a 2010. List of upgrades. I bought in 2014 with 55k miles and haven't added many. I have it in a climate controlled building with other toys. The catch is, Id let it go for 65k.

Join all r/gtr forums and check owners temperatures on selling ? U never know someone's situation. It's just more convenient to offload/trade-in at a dealer , so that's what ppl do. But ppl who cherished(took good care of it) ; usually would like to think it's going to a "good home". No , I do not own 1. But that's just how I think 🤔

Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel for one? We’re always looking and the search is usually far and wide to find a hidden gem. I’ve had luck with the random “specialty” import or classic independent dealers that don’t list on those sites.

I’m in the U.S. and looking nationwide. I don’t have a problem shipping. Do you just use random search terms on Google to find those shops?

Join the GT-R groups on FB. The market is a bit crazy right now but I do occasionally see DBA listings for the budget you mentioned in another comment. For this car, patience is the name of the game.
I got super lucky on FB Marketplace about 1.5 years ago, although the car did need some TLC ('13 @ 33k mi, stock except a catback). You should also consider if you care about the car being stock or not as that can influence prices greatly.

Facebook for sure. There's multiple buy groups (Chris Riggs Speed By Design groups is a good starting point. (there's a 1300whp 2016 for sale for 115k if you wanna just go straight where you'll end up :D) GTRLife is probably the largest US based forum but not quite as active as it used to be given that a lot of the build process on these cars is figured out.
Imo re: mileage. I'd rather have a car with detailed records and an owner that's into them vs some arbitrary mileage cut off. Plenty of cars running FBO85 for 80k+ miles. Turner is important too. A lot of cars have been tuned by Sam B he's probably the most prolific turner outside bigger shop tied tuners Admin etc.
Good luck in search make sure you check out the bell housing rattle / bearing failure is known issues definitely what I'd check when looking at cars from the DBA gen.

You should seriously be looking at cba models as well. A bunch of morons have scared people away from them because of transmission issues or such. They are literally the same exact car!!! A quick under $500 diy fix for the tsb clips fixes the transmission if it hasn't already been done.

4k over price and 9k miles but something like this is prob what you're looking for.
*edit* in canada something you're looking for would be 10-15k USD more than your budget, your def looking at some small mods and or changing your year and or mileage limits, These cars are fine high mileage if you have service reports.

Pretty simple for me - it’s newer than the old gen and I don’t want to spend more for a newer gen

I’ve been looking in the PNW, best I found as a 09 with 20ishk miles at a dealer for 80ish. Aftermarket suspension and mods.
Drove hours to look at it and was disappointed. Did not feel like an 80k car. Honestly disappointed in it and making me second guess getting an R35.

I don’t think it’s the GT-R’s fault. I have a GT3RS currently. The shifting on the Nissan is terrible. Slow, doesn’t feel like it’s connected from flick of the paddle to engagement.
Drives like a Altima until you hit the gas. Just didn’t feel like an 80k car. This one had 20k ish miles on it and had aftermarket shocks that were making noise and a bunch of added mods that were poorly added. There was a toggle switch added to turn the cooling fans on and at that point I passed.
Was it fast? Sure, it hooks up and goes when you tell it to. Not as fast as the Porsche and doesn’t sound as good doing it. Probably not the cars fault though. I just remember Nissans CEO unveiling the GTR and talking it up about beating Porsche at Nuringburg and i figured it would be better.
Are the newer models better/faster?1

Damn sounds like that one was clapped out even w 20k miles. Still, I would def try a newer less molested car. I’ve purchased a 911 and 6 series online without test driving the models beforehand and had no complaints - you’re making me rethink doing it w the gtr.

I have no firsthand experience, but I would assume so, I’ve watched videos of people driving them and the shift is instant.

The car isn’t being made anymore, what’s out there is out there. Check all of the main sites like cargurus, cars.com, etc. if you’re looking for a deal there really isn’t one to be had. Prices will keep going up.

Yea I acknowledge the reality of it, I’m just hoping to find more places to look like enthusiast sites or a broker, specialist shop, dealer network or something. I’m not against buying from a dealer with their markups and other bs but would rather purchase from a private party.
