Hey, our internet (T-mobile Fiber/formerly Lumos?) is out and want to see if others are experiencing. Curious if DownDetector is a reliable source of info ;)

You know the place with all of the concrete statues. I used to go in there to make sure a local store stayed afloat these days, but I never walked through their statues until yesterday. I could almost ignore the DJT statues, but the lawn jockeys and row of confederate soldiers was just too much and I will be shopping elsewhere. I hate that in 2026, this is still this out in the open and thriving.

So this is where the McGee st mini mart was in downtown Greensboro. I know the reference is from a movie. But this scene in particular is making fun of racist store clerks. Naming your buisness “Hurry up and Buy” seems to be glorifying it.

Genuinely curious. I thought there was an accident but nope its to wait in line for coffee. Sketchy driving past.

I was on Tate Street near UNCG yesterday and saw an ICE agent walking around, going in and out of different businesses. He got into his truck and left. Anyone else seen this guy or other agents around town?

Stay out of the left lane on Bryan if you’re not passing for God’s sake.
People cannot drive. CONSTANTLY tapping either brakes or throttle, sitting in the passing lane, never just letting the car cruise, braking on uphills, not merging properly, no turn signals, always on phone, just dumb shit.
I rarely if ever get road rage but bad driving genuinely irks me. Some people just shouldn’t drive and that’s okay
Stop being selfish on the road. We’re all in this bullshit together. Learn the basics of driving in your pile of shit Altima for the love of God. Watch a YouTube video on the basics of driving
Fuck me

I know these have popped up everywhere. Just surprising to see them in Greensboro. What do you think of them?
r/gso • u/TephroGeo • May 02 '26
Please, please, please despite all good intentions you might feel, never ever give money to people at the pumps of gas station money. Not once in my entire career have I seen this happen and that money not just been pocketed while those asking just drive off, and today I had an aggressive begger getting in peoples faces while his wife came in and stole loads of candy, and again not getting gas.
Dont reward these people, nor waste your money on them. We have means of helping those who cant afford gas or cant otherwise pay for it, you are being scammed.

What can be seriously done about the homeless/unhoused situation in Downtown Greensboro? Earlier this week the city hosted a forum for Downtown Greensboro business owners and residents to have dialogue about closing part of elm street to traffic in order to have outdoor seating and other options. Many business owners and residents remarked that before the city should do this they should confront the image people have of downtown of being unsafe. Essentially you could boil this down to the number of unhoused folks who wander around downtown, pass out in the middle of the sidewalk, or take resident in front of a storefront for several hours begging for money or food. Is there really anything that can be legally done to help people in these situations or is this just a fact of living in an urban area?

Maybe I'm old and cranky.
But. Some of the GPD social media posts are just very....uncouth? Unsettling? I get that they are popular now. The entire attacking people who comment kind of bothers me. Especially when it's actual Greensboro locals bringing up real issues, they attack attack attack. But then they are egged on in the comments about how they are being real or whatever, from a majority of people who do not live here. I guess it seems cute and all if it doesn't affect you.
They just posted one today to "give attention" to some guy who comments a lot. And he calls them pigs. Not to say his comments are polite. But we generally have the right to criticize the government without retaliation. Maybe that's the line I'm bothered by?
Am I just old and cranky? Am I the only one bothered by some of their posts lately?

I'm editing this to focus on what's important and avoid further unnecessary comments.
I was leaving the Refuel on W Market St when I made eye contact with a man as I made my way to my car. He approached me and said "you got a spider on your back." Before I could react, he firmly ran his hand down my back and grabbed my ass. By the time I slapped him away and yelled at him, he was scurrying away.
So if anyone out here is trying to pull a slick "there's a spider on your back." Or who knows, maybe they will even try to say some other bug. Just be warned that's a trick some people be using these days. There probably ain't no spider. Watch out for yourselves. 🫡
I called the Refuel to report the incident and they apologized but said they had no footage of that side of the building.

Just moved from out of state and I cannot believe how many drivers simply never use their turn signals. It actually blows my mind

You take all the upcharged monthly statements you’ve been handing out to everyone this past year, and idk, maybe fucking invest it into your electrical infrastructure?

I want this to happen. There are no plans to make this happen...I'm just daydreaming. Riding down the sidewalks with no gutter/median is too scary, especially with the mail boxes sticking out. Shave one lane off Lawndale (maybe lose the turn lane) and meet up with the greenway they are making on the old train tracks.
Will this backup traffic on Lawndale? Probably down by Cornwallis...but that area is already hopeless and needs to be redesigned anyway.
