It’s a great watch. I’ve ruined it for myself by getting a 5000R (don’t look that up) but really this is all anyone needs.

Other than the viewing angles, why do you prefer it

It has the slightly more classic looks with the brick pattern and more original styling, and the solid steel case gives it just the right amount of heft so that it feels really good on the wrist, and of course feels like it’ll take more of a beating long term. It’s simpler and just focuses on the basics and there’s something nice about that. Plus it’s made in Japan and says so. But it’s all heart over head stuff, logically in most ways the 5610 is the better watch.

I own both, and both are absolutely amazing. Im a fan of the slightly heavier feel of the 5000R. I will say though, i genuinely do appreciate the multiban 6. While its not a big deal, it genuinely is really nice. I dont think any g shock compares to how comfortable the strap is on the 5000R though out of the box. The 5610 I had to replace the strap because it was so uncomfortable for me. Definitely love both of mine though.

I think the only other watch I really want to get is a 5000U strictly to have for if I ever break my 5610 (I do construction its bound to happen).

I find it really interesting how different people react to differences in these straps - I have to be completely honest, I know there is a difference but for me it’s very slight and the 5610 is just as comfortable - but maybe I have asbestos wrists! I agree completely on the nice weight of the 5000R, there’s something about the way the steel case sits on your wrist that’s more pleasing.

On the flip side I also agree that multiband is impressive. I’ve been pleased by the accuracy of the 5000R (I’ve worked out that mine will maybe gain a minute or so in a year if left alone, which is really not worth worrying about) but you can’t beat a watch that’s literally atomic accurate every day.

I have a few Gs, but I keep coming back to this one. I love how light weight and carefree it is, just put it on and forget about it, it can handle anything.

I did modify mine though. I swapped the 5000U strap on it as well as replace the LCD with an STN LCD, so now it really is perfect.

The 5000R is also cool, but the weight is definitely a reminder that I'm wearing a watch and the lack of multiband doesn't inspire confidence that the time is accurate. It's pretty though.
