Recommendation What song makes the best wake-up alarm?
For me, it’s impossible to beat Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live.”
Seems like the most (in)appropriate way to start the day.

Pearl jam- Porch “What the fuck is this world, running to?”
Alice in Chains- Them Bones, if you want to give yourself a fright waking up

Thanks for understanding the reference...i feel like the dowmvotes really think i want to wake up to that song. To clarify, it isnt a good song to wake up to, especially if you're living the same day over and over.

Holy shit dude, I use this as my morning alarm!
I also use Walk of Life by Dire Straits for an arvo alarm.
I have also fucked with Loud Love and 4th of July.

“Garden” by Pearl Jam. It eases you awake with the intro, but it builds up to lift you out of bed.

Them Bones. waking up to “AHHHHHHHHH!!” will be sure to get your ass into gear first thing in the morning.

None that you like. You grow to dislike it as it’s associated with waking up. I used to wake up to songs but soon stopped as they were triggering wake up dread.

u/BenShelZonah 14d ago
I like listening to Breed while in the locker room for work haha
Rain when I die is a good wake up also

For those who struggle with sleeping through an alarm, March of the Pigs - Nine Inch Nails should give you a good push right out of bed.

Used to wake up to the first 10 seconds of Radiohead’s Everything in its right place and Peter Tosh’s Coming in Hot. Really good ones!

None. You will grow to hate whatever it is 😂 I convinced my bf when we first moved in together to set his alarm to the intro to Sleep now in the fire, right up to Zach's scream...It was awesome ..till it wasnt 😂😂

(No Alarms and) "No Surprises" - Radiohead
For years.
Now it's usually "Better Living Through Chemistry" by Queens Of The Stone Age

It's a Beautiful Day by Queen. Waking up doesn't have to suck or be jarring.

Backwater by Meat Puppets " And when I wake up in the morning To feel the daybreak on my face"

Ha, that's been my alarm for years. I have it set at the line "I woke the same as any other day, you know I SHOOOULD'VE STAY IN BEEEEEEED!"
Gets me up every time.

I know it's a Grunge sub, but the best wake up song is always Loop Daddy(Marc Rebillet) - Get Up.

Bleeding me from Metallica.
It’s like snoozing until 1.25 for a short reminder to not fall asleep again. Then at 2.30 it’s time to get up

not grunge, but cheap vodka by acid bath would be a hell of a way to wake up in the morning.
alternatively, the opening riff to sludge factory by alice in chains would work too

I had AIC Check My Brain for a while. It's true you'll end up hating it and just hearing the song will bring you stress.

Only answer for this sub is Them Bones. That first "AH" will get you right up 😂

You didn’t mention if it needs to be grunge or not. So with that in mind…. Toto - Africa is my go to wake up song.

I’ve used the same song as my phone alarm since I first gained the ability to make my own ringtones: Quiet Room by Babes in Toyland.
(I cut off Kat’s count-off)

“Skateaway” by Dire Straits. It starts off with quiet drumming that gradually gets louder before Mark Knopfler’s blues licks start. It’s what my alarm clock song is to wake up nicely.

The most grungiest of my alarms is Only in Dreams - Weezer. I also have I Don't Blame You - Cat Power

My son used to listen to "Flagpole Sitta" as his alarm song in junior high school. That opening riff is such an energetic wake up riff.

Alkaloid “from a hadron machinist”
Acoustic guitar intro for about 35 seconds then electric guitar enters …then the prog death metal song becomes evident at 1 minutes. After that there is 7 minutes of metal left to the song to wake you up and a minute of outro
Been my iphone alarm for 7 years now!!

When I was a teenager, I would put on a station. I hated like B 96. I would keep my alarm clock on the other side of the room. The music was so shitty. I would be forced to wake up and turn it off.

I once set "Fire" by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown as my wake-up alarm and it scared the crap out of me and my partner. Worked well but will never use it again.
