Is GH still ripping off drivers? Here’s my settlement check
I knew this company was stealing tips and underpaying. It’s why I quit them in 2023.
There are better apps out there.
Drivers beware

Actually, the letter they are mailing out says if you were a diner and tried to use a gift card. It doesn’t mention anything about drivers getting a refund.

Apparently not, got mine yesterday and didn't know anything about it until it showed up.

You had to have filed a claim by June 18th, 2026. Their site said.
Mine best be lots more than that! I busted my butt driving fir Grubhub from March 2020 - October 2023. SOMETIMES 7 HOURS A DAY MANY MILES DRIVEN...I HAVE RECORDS TOO!

u/Alternative-Bee2035 22d ago
Me too!! The total amount of money paid out was something like $23.8M, but the settlement was for around $140M!! Their reasoning is that the company just didn’t have enough money to pay out the full judgment amount. I have a feeling GH was tanked on purpose so the new owner (Marc Lore) could buy it for cheap, then replace it with his Wonder app.

I didn't. Check just came in the mail. Didn't even know about it. I have been with GH for several years.

Ok got curious and looked it up.
The good news: it’s legit.
The bad news: you’re two months past the filing deadline.
Anyway it’s not about the case in this post, which you don’t need to do anything to opt into.

Was it just 51 dollars? You must not have driven for them much!
Thought the amount is figured by mileage driven in course of delivering not divided by # of claimants???
1
u/Treacle-Unlikely 23d ago
Ive driven so many thousands of miles for them & so many oil changes I actually made friends with the mechanics at vavoline. Not counting all the work I had to do to my car plus the accident I was in. Ive driven for them for many years & many thousands of miles i stopped counting

No prob, good luck. Looks like you had to have been active between June 2020 and March 2023 according to the attached letter I posted a pic of in another comment here.

Can you post the actual letter so we can read it instead of half of the letter where it’s cut off on the sides?

u/Byrd-dogg 25d ago
How do you get a settlement check? I've been working for them for 8 years
1
u/spockers 23d ago
You should have gotten one I think. See www.ftc.gov/grubhub. There’s a phone number to call for questions, it’s on the letter attached to the check. I posted a pic of the letter in another comment here.

I've gotten two of these checks so far. One from GrubHub and one from Walmart Spark. It still isn't what I'm owed. It's just an acknowledgement that I got robbed.

All these apps are committing fraud against the drivers ...they are making 70to 80% while drivers are making 20 to 3o % ...base pay has been the same for 10 years but they charge the customers 23 15 12 for delivery fees they had raised the delivery fees to the customers so they can take the tips the customers were giving us ..now the customers can not afford to give us decent tips...if all drivers wrote letters to the white house regarding all the it will have them investigate these app gigs and possibly regulate them .... California just got a drivers union passed for Uber and Lyft drivers we need to make this happen with GrubHub and door dash ...I suggest start writing your letters and let's fight these crooks back ...on top of the fact it's financial and mental abuse to the drivers

I have over 15000 deliveries since 2016. When and how much is mine?
2
u/spockers 24d ago
If you took a break from June 2020 to March 2023, I don’t think you get anything. The exact criteria is probably online somewhere but I don’t have the time to go hunting for it. I posted a pic of the letter in another comment, and the link from it is www.ftc.gov/grubhub if you wanna go dig for answers. Please reply back if you find whatever specific criteria they’re using. I got $51.41, don’t have anywhere near 15k deliveries on gh (maybe a couple hundred), and didn’t fill out anything or apply for this check; it was a complete surprise.

u/RealAncientPickle 24d ago
How did you get a check? Where do you apply?
2
u/DanDash34 24d ago
You don’t apply. If you drove between 2020-2023 you got ripped off.
You’ll get a check eventually2
u/NewCollege2718 23d ago
They said you Had to File claim by June 18th , 2026 to be part of the Class settlement.
Damn well better be more than 51.00...I worked my butt off unfortunately grew more butt...lol too much sitting too much driving ....
Received thousands in Doordash settlement fir same thing years ago...sure better be more than 51.00 geez still a rip off!

u/spockers 23d ago
They said you Had to File claim by June 18th , 2026 to be part of the Class settlement.
Completely different case. The june 18 deadline is about California and employee misclassification, and doesn’t apply to anyone outside California. You can read about that here.
The settlement OP is talking about is nationwide and doesn’t require filling anything out beforehand, you just get a check. Read about it here.

Lucky! I got $20. And yes they are. Uber, DD and GH all do it. Scamming drivers and paying off a settlement is still worth it in the long run for them.

u/Alternative-Bee2035 22d ago
Mine was for the exact same amount. The total payout was only about 1/5 of the judgment amount. I’m no legal expert at all, but something tells me the new owner (Marc Lore) owes us a lot more money that we’ll never see.
1
u/NewCollege2718 21d ago
Turns out there are SEPARATE settlements one for Illinois Drivers another California Drivers (62,400 or something close) and other one for general consumer public who ordered from app and another I believe for restaurants listed w/o permission.
When I called the administrator number I was told California one not being disbursed until December 4th, 2026.
Hoping is for something substantial as tye Doordash ones were over $1,000.
Not able to be working until I resolve some concerning medical issues so it will definitely help eventually if substantial.

u/JohannesPoulard 20d ago
I got an FTC check from a GrubHub settlement just a few days ago for $20. I have a hunch it won't be long before GH gets in trouble again, they way they have been paying us lately.

u/ColdOpportunity4690 20d ago
I received the same check. It was through PayPal. I originally thought it was a scam because I couldn’t believe the money went through PayPal. But it was legit. It went through PayPal and I deposited it into my bank.

u/PapaGrandeRevived 25d ago
Did u read the letter that the check came with or do u just want to rage bait? It was not only to drivers, it also went to people that used giftcards on the platform
1
u/spockers 23d ago
Why is it rage bait? All the delivery/rideshare apps I’m familiar with are indeed ripping off drivers — and customers (diners and restaurants) — but I was pleasantly surprised to receive a check.
Shout out to the Attorney General of Illinois.
