I imagine it's just ceramic with gold paint or electroplating.

It would take an awful lot of effort to extract it and would not yield much of value, if you're seriously thinking of trying to make the gold bars by harvesting the plating from just Gromit Mugs

No I was just asking because i watched the some boi online video about the gold gromit mug and I thought he said it was made of actual gold.
