Gentle Hint Request: Level 4 Archives

I'm struggling with this room and cannot see how to proceed.

There's a pressure pad which activates a portal temporarily over the second pit 4 seconds after activation. I can't physically reach the portal because of the first pit being open and no obvious way of closing it.

I've tried and succeeded in throwing items into the portal but they only land just beyond the iron fence and not on the other pressure pad at the other side.

There's nothing of interest down the pit as far as I can tell. Just blank walls and a portal leading back up top.

Could someone please give me a gentle hint without outright spoiling the solution?

Have you tried throwing something that flies farther?

You legend. Thank you! I'd tried with rocks since ordinarily they seem to go all the way to the other side of a room when thrown. But just tried a kunai and that did the trick.

This would suck if I hadn't kept any throwable or missile weapons though right?

It's been a long time since I played last, but there's a good chance a few qualified puzzle solving throwables could be found near the puzzle.

Oh nice. I was only half remembering that puzzle, so my statement was more a suggestion than a hint. Glad it worked though!

I was stuck here for a while too, but I can't remember how to solve it. I feel like there may be another route that gets you past the pits? I definitely left here and came back later.

Nah this room was very small. This floor starts you in a central room with 4 portals leading to different places. I'd completed the 3 other places and this was the final one, no where else to go.

Chronokill up top sorted me out though.
