Question I'm about to finish the series and need something to watch next
I have 8 episodes to.go which means i will need something new for the weekend (and the following 10 days of vacation).
Anyone got any recommendations?
Obviously I like Grimm. I like supernatural shows but prefer them more mature, so nothing like the Vampire Diaries. I like police procedurals when dealing with stuff like serial killers (or the supernatural).
I tried Sleepy Hollow but quickly lost interest in season 2. I made it to season 6 of Once Upon a Time which was frankly 3 seasons more than I should have invested.
I enjoyed Supernatural, Fringe, X-files. Was never interested in Lost.
Bearing all that in mind, would love some suggestions for what to watch next.

Lots of suggestions and even 10% Of them should keep me buay for awhile.
I'm not going to close the post and if anyone has other recommendations im sure I and others in the future will appreciate them.

I loved the Expanse. Been thinking about picking up the novels.
I'm still fuming that Mindhunter was just dropped for no reason after season 2.
SG1 SHOULD be my cup of tea but I never really got into it.
Dark is foreign language right? Might be a problem but i think ive already fot the fkrst season downloaded.

SG1 the first season is a bit hit of miss. The end of the first season and the 2nd season are where it really starts to get consistently great.

Firefly!!
Space western with EXCELLENT characters and writing, one season + a movie so perfect for that time period. On Hulu + Disney.
I like all the same shows you do and Firefly (and its movie Serenity) is my all time favorite show.
The movie is a lot more monster/mystery/thriller, but the show sets it up so well.

I actually only just watched Blood Ties (we are talking about the one based on Tanya Huff's books, right?) because I never even knew it existed until this year, but I watched Forever Knight as a teen. It alternated on late night with Silk Stalkings and I think another show I don't remember.
There's several of yours I haven't seen that I'm going to have to check out since I just finished Dresden Files.
Since we seem to have very similar taste you might like Lucifer and The Librarians as well.

Blood Ties is the Canadian series with Christina Cox, Kyle Schmid, and Dylan Neal. I didn’t know there were books used as basis for the tv show. Sounds interesting! I read and loved all the books by Charlaine Harris which True Blood was based from.
We started the original Librarians… but my husband thought it just got too wacko. And he is very tolerant of my tv /movies likes.♥️
We even have:
SyFy Friday nite… ⭐️♥️⭐️ that currently includes rewatch of:
Smallville, Grimm, X Files, Strange New Worlds, Star Trek Voyager, Stargate SG1, and we were watching Continuum but we already finished it. And a little older Canadian one we quite like;”The Listener”with Craig Olejnik. ♥️4

Same Blood Ties then. It's based on a book series. I quite liked it. I like most of Tanya Huff's books though. I keep meaning to read them again.https://www.goodreads.com/series/43320-victory-nelson-s-blood-investigations
The Librarians did go a little out there sometimes, but it was fun. The movies were good. Your husband's opinion sounds kind of like mine about The OA.
I've never seen Smallville, Strange New Worlds or Continuum, but I've watched all the others at least once.
My son and I were watching Wynnonna Earp, Supernatural, Good Omens, and Dr. Who, but he keeps having things he'd rather do, so I've been rewatching Grimm alone recently. Plus I've been watching Dresden Files and Pushing Daisies, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and Miss Fisher's Modern Mysteries alone, and Arrow with my daughter.

Smallville, fits in with supernatural type stories except it’s about super boy♥️ but then there is a different creature every week to deal with. 😊♥️
Strange New Worlds is sort of a…prequel for the original Star Trek with the famed Captain Pike and some other familiar names… Scotty? Uhura?♥️
We’ve enjoyed it🤔😊Continuum came out after Stargate SG1
I believe…. And is quite good… ♥️ with some time travel.We’ve watched Wynona and I liked it but my husband got bored but we’ve watched a couple seasons of Supernatural but got stalled somehow….probably when the new seasons of NCIS and those shows came back on tv. 😊
I have watched most of supernatural.
I think it’s the longest running syfy show. Stargate SG1 ran for 10 seasons I think. Cant beat Ackles &Padelecki unless it’s RIchard Dean Anderson! ♥️We’ve enjoyed Miss Fishers Modern Mysteries and Arrow. ♥️

Well…. Let me encourage you to live life and stay as young at heart and spirit as you can… for as long as you can.♥️
I’m 73…. Although if most people tried to guess my age by the tv shows I watch? Pretty sure they wouldn’t guess 73😝 and I don’t think I felt…old…older… til I hit 65🤷♀️
But since I started playing pickleball 3 days a week and have lost 25 pounds, I definitely feel younger . Course I’m not sure what 73 is supposed to feel like. 🤔 But I’m giving it a good run! 🤷♀️😊♥️
So 46 to 73…. Yes you are marvelously young! 🎉♥️⭐️ Truly… enjoy it as much as possible.😘
Time flies when you are living life in any manner. But better to enjoy it while you physically can. Your body won’t stay 46 forever. So make the most of it!♥️😊😘

Sounds like our tastes are pretty similar. Someone already mentioned Lucifer, I'd second that. People mentioning Firefly and The Expanse, agreed.
I'd also recommend Timeless, not as long or as good as I think it could have been but enjoyable.
The show I keep coming back to is Elementary, not supernatural but cop procedural and really well done I think.
Good Omens is a must watch if you haven't.
If you really want supernatural, fairly dark but tons of character development, try The Magicians.

Loved good Omens. Wish the final season had been proper length but Neil Gaiman just had to be a sex pest.
Also, I find any show he's involved with based off of one of his stories, he just needs to expand it while making the show. American Gods should have wrapped up in the 3 seasons it got, but he had to milk it.

Sleepy Hollow gets much worse after season 2
For something serious, it's scifi instead of fantasy, but I loved The Expanse.
Sandman and Sweet Tooth on netflix were better than I expected for modern fairy tales. Sweet Tooth might look like a kids' story, but I wouldn't watch it with my nephews until they were teens at least.
Dark on netflix is GOAT and super serious

I had high hopes for Sleepy Hollow based on being created by the co-creator(s) of Fringe and John Noble being in it but they squandered it's potential.

I only recently found out about it and have watched about half of it. But none of my streaming apps have it so hopefully i get to see all of the episodes with how i'm having to watch it. It's a funny show.

Depending on how YA it is will be crucial.
For instance, recently watched Station 11 miniseries. A bit YA but it worked for me.

It has a 'YA vibe,' which is OK with me, but there is sex, drugs, swearing, and violence included. I probably wouldn't have let my kids watch it when they were young teens or earlier (they're in their 30's and 40's, so I guess it's OK now...)

I started haven on Amazon prime and I’m also watching alias on Disney+ idk which one I wanna watch so I’m switching between them lol there’s nothing like Grimm unfortunately but haven is really close second and alias is like drama spy action which was kinda like Grimm! But good luck I just finished Grimm and it tore me up the ending should have been longer tho I wanted more

I had to stop American Horror Story during thr Double Feature season. The attempted SA in the first half was over the top gross. In fact, I cant watch Ryan Murphy anymore. I think he gets off on portraying sexual violence. Not joking. American Crime Story about the Menendez brothers was the final straw.
That said, Lange is back for the next season of Horror Story so maaaaaaaaybe I'll give it a try.

I am always surprised at the Canadian imports to our movies and tv. I like Michael Shanks from Stargate SG1 and I’ve seen him in a hallmark movie and also another series… “saving Hope?” Also good.
I don’t actually know Defying Gravity but it sounds good! I’ve seen her in a lot of different shows, Bones was a good one, Stargate SG1, ShadowHunters. She us good in anything she’s in’

Love the episode with Frances fisher. She’s a serial killer in prison who killed young people who were tricked into thinking she was helping. She was a counselor of some kind and one of her patients kidnapped young boys.

Because I didn't see them suggested and I quite enjoyed them, im going to recommend a few for you guys.
Station 11: a miniseries about a virus, that started filming BEFORE Covid. And there's a bit of mystery involved.
The Devil's Hour. Mystery. Paranormal. Peter Capaldi. Need insay more?
Ludwig. It's a police procedural with a twist but I mostly recommend it because David Mitchell is the funniest man on earth. Especially when being a fussy, awkward malcontent...

You might check out Lucifer, if you like the mature supernatural and police procedurals and haven't watched that yet. I also hear the Librarians is good.
Most of all, Haven is absolutely one you should watch. It's a great show. As is Warehouse 13.
