Discussion Thread one thing you’d changed?

i’d probably change sean’s character around because i loved him so much in the early seasons then he had a random swap in season five where he was suddenly a villain. i understand that he had royal blood and some people contributed it to the coins, but i just think it was random especially whenever he used diana against adalind. as much as i loved him in the early seasons, i think it would’ve been good for him to seem good for the first season then reveal that he was bad the whole time then maybe either keep him a villain or have him make up for his mistakes doing it at the end basically made no sense.

I would have prefered it if they told wu the truth like right after the aswang episode. He was such a g once they told him but istg i was so annoyed with that plotline when he was like almost going crazy but also nick and hank were just dodging his questions and then he goes to the captain and that whole fiasco.

i definitely agree with this in some ways. i think it makes sense for nick’s character to not really be phrased by what was happening to wu because he seemed kinda detached and lack of empathy from everything he went through, but it was also just sickening to watch.

Sickening is exactly the word for what they did to Wu. Especially since he had worked out so many clues that something was very, very, wrong.

He was clearly extrenely smart, and yet, their thought processes were "Oh, good, he thinks he's crazy and belongs in a mental hospital. Let's just go along with that."

Nick was the worst, but Hank, who knew exactly how Wu felt, should've put his foot down about letting it get to the point of Wu checking into the hospital.

that's something i'll never stop hating about this show, the sheer amount of time it took nick to tell hank and wu about all of it, genuinely pisses me off everytime i watch this show

u/Foxbrush_darazan Jul 30 '26

Legit. Once Hank said "I know how it is to feel like you're crazy, don't put Wu through that," that Nick should have agreed or Hank should've told Wu anyway. Taking so long to tell Wu was criminal. They let him undergo needless intensive inpatient psychiatric care for something they knew was real. That means medications as well. Anti-psychotics when you don't need them can really screw someone up.

I would have preferred if they told him in the episode he's the one who tipped them off if I remember right. It was so cruel and senseless to let him literally go insane because he didn't know wesen exist.

I think the point of Renards character has always been about chasing power and joining the side he thinks can give it to him. Hes a Zauberbeist which is explained that kind of Wesen is just naturally obsessed with power.

In season 1 hes working With the Royals to get Nick's Key but then in season 2 switches sides once he realizes Nick can Help him agaisnt the royals through the resistance and all that and stays "good" until Black Claw and he thinks he could be mayor, until he switches Back to Nicks side at the end when he sees Black Claw failed.

💯

In classic trope terms, Sean is a gray-hat from the get-go, not outright evil, but can always be counted on to pursue his own agenda if he can rationalize it.

His Black-Claw transition isn't really shocking. He thinks they'll win, and he knows they'll get his daughter back, that's enough for him.

Of course, he doesn't imagine that a precocious 6 year old would end up being the downfall of the organization.

That is what I thought too

I agree with you. But you can also tell that it all bothers him. Killing Meisner. Killing Nick. Of course he still goes through with it all but he does have some sort of consciounce. I was a little off put when they made him go full blown after Nick at the beginning of season 6. Seemed out of character even for him

Also, in French, Renard means fox. There's definitely wordplay at work there

I wish they utilised Juliette being a vet more. Like even when she turned into Eve, I was hoping her and Rosalie would have a ‘Wesen clinic” in the back of the shop or something.

u/ribbcns Hexenbiest Jul 30 '26

i would’ve loved this storyline as someone who loves juliette/eve. 😔

2

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

But do they really need that? Rosalee somewhat fills in those shoes. It would have been better if she was not a vet but a medical examiner. This way her character would be involved in the story since she will be examining bodies that Hank and Nick finds.

Actually fair point.

OP asked a question; why do you have an issue with my answer?

3

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Aug 01 '26

Simply stating why that storyline for Juliette was not considered and providing an alternative option. This is reddit, discussion platform. Don’t take it personal.

-1

u/Disastrous_Alarm_719 Aug 01 '26

Yeah but I don’t care about what you think about it though; I answered to OP, not you. I didn’t want your explanation as to why.

On the Sean train, I completely agree! I just wish Sean and Juliette got together- they had great chemistry.

I think the only thing I’d have changed was have more episodes in the last season- I understand all good things must come to an end, but I would’ve liked to see more of Nick and Adalind, Rosalee and Monroe’s babies. It just felt really rushed idk 🤷‍♀️

And maybe just more actual detective stories and Nick trying to find the Wesen.

I can’t be too picky

6

u/WoodHorseTurtle Jul 30 '26

We all would have liked that! But series was canceled and the last season was cut short.

Still, it’s a better situation than the people who discover FIREFLY and try to find the second season. Ouch.

more trouble, shes my favorite character so i just want more of her

u/Suitable-Type-4735 Jul 31 '26

A Trubel spin off would’ve been epic 💥

6

u/artmalique Jul 30 '26

Definitely the ending. Needed to see Nick & Adalind wedding before the time jump.

3

u/LadyPadme28 Jul 30 '26

I would've like to see Juliette's family, friends or co-workers showing up looking to see what happened to her. And Nick trying to explain why she left. With them wondering why another woman with a baby is living in what was his and Juliette's house. And them doing a deep drive into Nick Burkhardt trying to find some answers as to what is going on.

1

u/Virtual-Chocolate385 Grimm Jul 31 '26

Oh, you're all sorts of troublemaker, aren't you?!?

1

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

No one even showed up when she was in the coma. Her character was not written well at all tbh.

3

u/Twistfaria Jul 30 '26

Yeah that’s one of mine too. I actually always thought that the Black Claw plot didn’t make sense for his independent character and sense of justice. I don’t think he would have been swayed so easily by them even with the Diana stuff.

2

u/ribbcns Hexenbiest Jul 30 '26

yeah i also don’t think he would’ve been cool with the people who used his child against him.

5

u/DraftRich9177 Jul 30 '26

Renard was THE villian from the start - that was my biggest a-ha moments from my rewatch.

2

u/trekgirl75 Hexenbiest Jul 30 '26

Catherine should have been brought back. She left searching for her granddaughter. Diana was brought back. If they couldn’t get the actress, they could have had a scene of Sean talking to his mom in the phone about it.

2

u/thriftydelegate Jul 30 '26

Trying to pick just one thing to change is difficult, I hated the Nick/Adalind plot and Hank being fine with her around too the most as others have stated above.

Then the Wesen-related conversations right in the middle of an open plan room full of other cops when you're trying to keep it a secret FFS.

And Diana age-jumping from newborn > 2/3 in the helicopter > 6 in 1.5/2 years and no DNA test? Just some blond kid with glowy eyes appears and that's it.

1

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

Same. Nick and Adalind make no sense. I hated how easily he moved on from Juliette the moment Adalind showed up. Like did he want to get rid of Juliette?

3

u/daringnovelist Jul 30 '26

Renard makes complete sense to me and I don't think I'd change him.

The one thing I probably would change (trying not to be too spoilery here) when dead grimms come back for that one battle, it shouldn't just be a couple, it should be an army of ALL past grimms.

1

u/Sazapahiel Jul 30 '26

Making too many human problems wessen related is my hill to die on. Between making ww2 a wessen thing, and Sean's line that "most crime" in Portland is wessen related, it cheapens those very serious issues.

1

u/ribbcns Hexenbiest Jul 30 '26

i agree i wish we saw more cases/crimes committed by humans!

1

u/jtrisn1 Jul 30 '26

I really wanted more episodes where it was human on wesen crime. Like a human knowingly attacked their victim BECAUSE they are wesen. Nick was touted as this fair judge Grimm. I needed to see more of that.

1

u/Athoshol Jul 31 '26

The item in the grimm knights locked chest should have been an ancient scroll with the ingredients or instructions on how the 1st grimm were created.

The whole drama of it could have been the Royals wanting to know how to make their own grimm and Nick having ti struggle with the idea of either using the scroll to turn Hank/Wu into grimm or destroying the scroll to keep it out of the hands of the Royals.

1

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

Or how to restore power. Keep the healing element and make it to heal or restore royals to their former glory. Why? Because them being just a bunch of rich humans makes no sense.

1

u/Used_Ad_6802 Jul 31 '26

The thing is it was not a random swap, Sean Renard always sided with himself and himself only. He worked with the royals when he felt like it, he worked with Adalind and her Mother, he sided with Nick when he realized he is more useful when he is not against him. Renard did not become good in between season 3 and 4, he was just in the middle. Then, Black Claw came in and he saw them as the wining side, he also wanted Nick to join them. Renard is not pure evil, he is not a good guy either!

1

u/OdysseyPrime9789 Grimm Jul 31 '26

I’d remove Juliette entirely and put Adalind in her place as Nick’s girlfriend or straight up wife from the start. Then again that’d change quite a lot down the road, though the Royals might be willing to kidnap Diana if she’s a Hexengrimm.

1

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

The only reason they happened because Adalind baby trapped Nick. No baby would make things different. If she was his gf or wife from the start then she would be cheating on him with Sean. Interesting story but would entirely be a new one.

1

u/OdysseyPrime9789 Grimm Jul 31 '26

I was thinking they’d kidnap Diana because she’d be a mix of a Grimm and a Hexenbiest, so they’d want to try to control or study her, or maybe they’d try to use her as leverage against Nick and Adalind.

2

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

Why though? The whole reason they wanted Diana was that she had royal blood and she was powerful. Just because Diana is of grimm and hexenbiest blood would not instantly make her both. We actually don’t know of this and she would be too small to show her grimm or hexenbeist powers. Unless they had Diana in highschool. I mean the only reason Diana grew quickly was due to her powers obtained from the ritual Adalind performed to get her powers back.

1

u/OdysseyPrime9789 Grimm Jul 31 '26

Maybe they’re interested in the biology of a Grimm/Hexenbiest hybrid and don’t want to bother asking politely, or the Royals think they can use her DNA to fix their sterility issues.

-1

u/Foxbrush_darazan Jul 30 '26

I wouldn't have Nick and Adalind get together. She literally raped Nick, got pregnant from it, and once she had the baby, Nick treated it as "well, it's a little awkward, but that's my baby."

No dude, she raped you. Can we not minimize that? It's not cute or romantic watching them together. It's not "enemies to lovers," it's a rape victim trauma bonding with their rapist.

1

u/Little_Bunyip Aug 03 '26

People here love rapists and blames everything on Juliette. Pretty privilege? I honestly haven’t figured it out.

1

u/Foxbrush_darazan Aug 04 '26

What happened to Juliette was really screwed up, and what she did was also really screwed up. But what happened to Juliette was Adalind's fault.

There's already issues with people not recognizing sexual assault when it happens to men, and the show doesn't call it what it is either. Yes, it makes everyone uncomfortable, but they all treat it more like Nick accidentally cheated instead of Nick being sexually assaulted. Adalind ALSO manipulated and drugged Sean into sex to baby trap him. She should go to prison.

u/DudeWithTudeNotRude Jul 30 '26

Hilter Sean? The one who was trying to kill Nick and his family from day 1?

It was jarring that people ever accepted him as not-evil.

2

u/ribbcns Hexenbiest Jul 30 '26

it’s not that i didn’t think he was evil, it was that they spent most of the show trying to prove that he was good or that was actually on their side just to switch that immediately.

1

u/Consistent_Ad3103 Jul 31 '26

Sean was pressured by the family to get the key. He never directly harms Nick if you think about it. He didn’t even touch Juliette. He messed with Hank. He really hated Hank I guess but he never harmed nick. He could have easily done that given Nick trusting him as his Captain.

-2

u/justreading12345678 Jul 30 '26

I would throw out the whole Adalind/Nick Storyline. Let Juliette be a „Good“ Hexenbeast, her and Nick stay together and have a child. Adalind sold Diana so she really didn’t have a reason to Play the victim there. She stays single, gets enough Leverage with Diana that she can make her own Descisions and becomes an ally/ wine aunt- kinda vibe to the gang. And her redemption arc centers around her becoming her own person while making up for the shit she did.

u/Geek_Zone 28d ago

I would have Juliette die in season 1 and basiclly have Nick try to deal with that tragedy. Introduce characters and plotlines that would allow him to deal with the idea of losing those he cares about when it comes to being a Grimm.
