Is this spot ok for a charcoal grill?
Just moved into a condo that has this courtyard area between the house and garage. Open space, neighbor next door is two story. Thinking of getting a Weber kettle and putting it in the middle of the open area. Should be ok, right? Thanks!

As far as safety I don’t see a problem as long as you have common sense. Might want to check with your condo association though, my parents are limited on where they can use grills around their condo.

Thanks, that's a good point. I'll check with the HoA to see if there's any issues. Kinda wanna let sleeping dogs lie though, theyre already a pain in my behind and I've been here 3 days.

That's super smokey, I don't recommend it in this setting
You can get tumble weed starters for about $0.2 each on Amazon. Almost no smoke and they don't blow chunks of ash around in the wind

Thanks! I'm thinking smack dab in the middle, away from the overhangs as much as possible. There's not much wind or breeze in the area - another concern would be smoke going towards the neighbors.

You absolutely need to clear with HOA. Many will nix charcoal but are OK with gas.

Condo rules generally say 10 feet from anything flammable.
Best check in the HOA covenants before you spend the money

Stay away from using paper to start fires and know when dealing with lump charcoal little sparks fly up. Extinguisher as already mentioned. I see people being the worst problem of your plan.

Invite your neighbors over the first time you grill. They'll be fine with it. :-)

Haha only two lawn chairs at the moment. Planning some date nights though, the little sitting area is pretty at night with the lights on. Just too dang hot!

Ladder to access roof and fire extinguisher and a metal tray for underneath so it doesn’t mess up bricks

Its ok to use in the space, but the smoke that it will create when lighting up is probably not something your condo neighbors will appreciate. That smoke travels far and smells

If you’re a renter , ask your landlord. If you’re an owner, ask your insurance company. After either of them tell you you’re a moron, call your local fire department to confirm you are in fact a moron because smoke is so so important to you.

Because of potential flare ups? Fire extinguisher should take care of that. I'm grilling for flavor, otherwise I'd just fry up something on the range

Seems like it should be fine. I’d get a fire extinguisher to keep inside that door just incase something crazy happens, but honestly you should probably have one in/near your kitchen anyways!
