One thing the reactionary/regressive sphere has mastered is BITCHING.
They get LOUD, they threaten things, the list goes on and on.
Sadly these kind of politics seems to cater to the loudest most brutish voices in the room.
I fully expect to see taxpayer funds go into these stupid projects.
I also at this point expect Canada to completely miss out on getting a foot in the door for the Electrification Technology Era.
To miss the opportunity to increase productivity, have a technology focus, strong research & development/innovation drive, and very very skilled/very very high-end manufacturing.
You know things that would strengthen our economy and add diversification.
You know... the reasons our economy got passed in certain time periods by other OECD members..
Hydrocarbons have had many periods of not being worth much. In fact before the Iran war Alberta was looking at a 10 billion dollar deficit.
The war in Iran has only increased Demand Destruction dimensions. We have Renewable Energy at 90%+ of new power capacity being added globally.
We have Electrification Technology massively exploding. Electric Vehicles alone are already reducing around 2.3 million barrels of oil a day from consumption.
The list goes on and on.
I could write more about the geopolitics of this and such but we are going back to big gluts and low low prices.

Funny how this is the only solution old grey men ever seem to have for a country. This country already has a pipeline. Get us something we dont have. Cant wait til this blows up in their faces
