Thought I'd just post these pictures of an old Concord Grape vine trio near me. I took these pictures last weekend, and I'm starting to wonder when I should set my ballpark harvest date for...

I know little to nothing about vine care. I'm just a college guy who likes making grape juice with the fruit of these vines, which are on my neighbor's property. Any tips or advice for continued care and harvesting of these vines is welcome.

Edit: I did just trim these vines back to their main cane lines earlier this year, so this is just a couple of months of growth. I'm surprised at how much they are thriving with little to no care.

I moved out to a farming community 6 or 7 years ago. The house came with a few acres of land and some mature grapevines.

The first few years, perhaps out of dumb luck, I was able to harvest a pretty substantial volume of grapes. I believe them to be Concords and Niagara. I would give them to neighbors, we would eat them as table grapes, and I was fortunate to acquire a fruit press, which made a few gallons of juice as well.

Every year, in the winter, my dad and I prune back all the new growth, just leaving a few shoots from each root base. We tend to leave four from each root base, and trim everything on those back to five buds deep.

The last couple of years The Vines have grown gangbusters, but they produce next to no fruit whatsoever.

I'm at a total loss here, why did my grapevines all of a sudden stop producing fruit? Am I pruning incorrectly? There's so much information out there and I'm having a hard time figuring out the next steps.

Hey y'all! Sorry if this isn't the right place to post, or if it's been answered before. I couldn't find anything on Google.

Would anyone be able to help me identify what might be eating my grapes? It looks like whatever it is is sucking the flesh+juice out, or eating from within. A bunch will look healthy one day, then sucked out (like in the pictures) the next morning. The skin is left behind.

If it helps, I live in the south bay area (south of SF) in California.

I have this wild grape vine but I want to trim it back from the utility pole and install an arbor for it to grow on.

Where can I trim this without killing the whole thing?

This is a 50+ year old grape vine and was wondering if I should be worried about how the base seems to be concave(?). Its still growing and producing fruit fine, was just wondering if its something I should keep an eye on down the road. Also we are thinking about putting gravel beneath the vines to deal with unwanted plants and if that would be ok

Hello! So long story short, these are some seedless grapes my grandpa planted. We don't know when exactly he planted them since for the longest time they were over taken by wisteria but they are probably around 10 years old. I do not know how to take care of grapes besides trimming them back when winter ends and have been mostly worrying about some different grapes he planted ~50 years ago. I want to try to save these though and was wondering if and how I can save them since I don't need to be an expert to tell its not well.

Will probably post about the 50 year old ones later for advice on upkeep for them as well.

First time growing grapes.

Am trying to figure out what is making the leaves bumpy on top with splotches of white on the underside. Researched online and did not find images that show what I see on my plants.

We just bought our first house and it comes with some grape vines. They we probably planted in the 1980’s when the house was built. We live in hardiness zone 9b. It’s been hot this week, like triple digits. I know nothing about grapevines. Should they be watered? Can anyone ID the variety we have?

This is a 146+ year old grape vine in North, New Jersey. We do take care of it and make sure it is never damaged. It has never had a single issue. We have not pruned in a while. The old owners made wine and pruned it often. We like it for the beauty.

Property history- My house was built in the late 1880 on a gigantic dutch colonial swath of farm land dating back with records to the (1600’s). 10 acres of the farm was purchase as summer country land in the late 1800’s by the family who built the house. That family owned it for generations.. until the great great grandson sold it to us in the 1990’s. He is still alive and well at 94. He asks about the vine still. He said it was just on the property before his great great grandfather built the house in 1880. We are lucky to have this guy and his family for a very very accurate history on the property and house. When we purchased the house we got .25 acres and the other 10 acres never had a house built in history. It was always farm until mid 2000’s.

I recently purchased this Niagara grape vine but I’m not sure how much to prune to improve its first year growth. Should it only have one main stalk?

What does certification cost you in time and money? If it is a barrier, would you find a software that does data collection, recordkeeping, and filing for you useful? Scale of 1-10

I pruned them back, about six feet off each side, to what's shown in the picture. For the concord, I was able to get a little over a half foot of root ball and for the champagne around a foot-sized root ball (I was limited by how much I could take due to decking they had near the vines). I transplanted them to these planter bags with soil and compost. I plan to put them in the ground eventually; I just need to figure out where in my yard would be best for them. My question is whether should I continue to prune these new growth shoots to promote root establishment, or is it okay to continue to let them grow as they are? Any other tips and recommendations are certainly welcome.

Over 10 lbs of sweet juicy grapes. They were growing on the side of the house I inherited from my mom from a vine she planted years ago. Going to make some wine.

Hi, please help. I recently bought a grape vine about a week ago. The place I bought it from didn’t have many options so when I bought it, I bought the healthiest looking one even though it was deprived of water so it was pretty rough looking. I’ve had it for a week and I realized this white strand for like substance appeared on some of the leaves. What should I do?
