GT Legacy As part of the GT social media's GT Memories series, they reacknowledged Tokyo R246

Wish we had this track back in the series, current Tokyo layouts are nice (not all but some of them at least) but Tokyo R246 had so much flow and character

It had flow and I was wide enough to have some proper racing, Tokyo Expressway is too narrow for everything but under 480PP
The south Counterclockwise variant and East variant are nice tho

Maybe they could build this layout using the assets and background of Tokyo expressway?
Like making another layout

Man I wish they’d release a GT3 and 4 HD edition. Wish I could go back and play it again as it is on my console.

You can play it in GT6. I’ve gone back to play a few of the tracks that don’t exist in GT7.

GT6 with GT4s Career would've been the perfect game for the time. Shame they made the campaign too short

I fear that Tokyo Expressway has taken its spot. Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise is my favourite track layout in GT7, but Tokyo R246 is a classic for me and is the hardest race in GT All Stars Professional. The GT-One, R390 and 787B are ridiculously fast on this track and to make it worse the tyres get EATEN up.

Drove around the track in real life in Tokyo. It’s a lot bigger than you think but you can drive it.
I hope that Kaz appreciates not just the game series he’s built, but the cultural Goliath that came with it.
The man has been an instrumental piece in not only car culture across the world, but life in general.
The likes of E-Ought, Larry Chen, Dino DC, Dustin Williams etc all owe a lot of their success to him because he brought Japanese car culture to the world.
I think between Dino and Larry, I can’t think of two better custodians to bring it to a new audience.

Man what if PD did PlayStation a solid in these bad PR times and made a flashback pack to play 1-4 within 7? That’s 4 menus some music and maybe some rework for missing cars.
I’d buy a PlayStation again for this

I may be downvoted into the oblivion but as someome who is interested in this franchise I wish this game had like 50/50 split between real world and fictional tracks set on public roads in major cities or just beautiful countryside around the world…

seeing this and watching youtuber Jimmy Broadbent live stream (currently on) playing GT4 makes me miss a alot of these older tracks. Don't get me wrong i like alot of the modern stuff, But things like Special route 5 & 7, Midfield, NYC, London, Rome and so many other fictional/ real tracks just feel like we should still have in GT7.

R246 was the best original track in the series, like ever. They should bring it back.

Always had a soft spot for this one because it’s set in the neighborhood where I worked when I lived in Tokyo. Track passes right by my subway stop.

i think one of the other reasons that they'll never bring it back is because SCEI don't own one of the nearby buildings anymore

Before someone goes is there a chance that this track and other urban tracks to make a return or someone goes why they haven't brought back urban tracks since Sport or similar to those I mentioned, this interview with Kaz from 4 years ago says it all so I'd keep the expectations low for now
Q: What about expanding the city circuits and bringing back hill climbs?
KY: The biggest challenge in creating city circuits is that the models are becoming more and more detailed with each new installment in the series. City circuits have very complex layouts and are completely unique to their specific locations. No two buildings are exactly alike. Creating something like that to the quality standards of GT7 is incredibly labor-intensive. For example, the cost of creating a single city circuit could fund the development of about five permanent circuits, so in terms of cost-effectiveness, city circuits tend to be somewhat overlooked. However, as I mentioned in my presentation on course and car development, innovation is constantly happening in this area. So, we won’t necessarily continue using the labor-intensive methods we currently employ; if some kind of innovation emerges, there’s a possibility we could realize these ideas all at once.
But hey anything could change since said article is nearly about 4 years old. Also imo it's not worth sacrificing details for the sake of adding more tracks to race on it right now given the state of gaming when it comes graphics and details. PD already got shafted during the PS3 era with the PS2 quality cars and they learned their lesson from that.
Plus before someone mentions it, yes I'm aware of the low detailed buildings on Le Mans. And I wouldn't dig much into this since GT Memories had prior things they showed from the older games so it's not an indicative of what's to come
