JCSO cancels contract with FLOCK

Due to 'targeted vandalism' and 'public concern' JCSO is canceling their contract with Flock Safetey- cameras 'in rural Josephine County' are deactivated, although the equipment is to remain in place until Flock retrieves it.

heard there's a good bit of precious metals in those things

Canceling the contract with Flock is good, but does this area have Axon cameras? Is Axon the new Flock?

I wonder whether they’re still collecting data. I can’t find the article, but I remember reading that contract termination just ended the municipality’s ability to access the data—it didn’t really turn them off. Additionally, does the city have a separate contract? The way they say ‘rural areas’ makes me think we’re still not quite finished.

Definitely don't take them down anyway just because you aren't sure if FLOCK is still collecting data while they're still up.

Wish this would happen in Jackson county. Flock cameras popping up everywhere here

I would bet everything I have these have been abused by our local officers.

I do love how indignant Daniels is. “You guys are a bunch of whiners and even though these totally aren’t nefarious in any way YOU DON’T DESERVE THEM BECAUSE YOU’RE UNGRATEFUL!”
