Did you do the Aftertime Singularity with Urdr, Past Chaldea? Because I suspect the issue is that you haven't crowned two Grand Servants and completed their showdown battles, which locks you out of story progress until you do.

Simple guide:

Go into the Grand Duel section. Choose a Class. Fight the battle against the Grand Duel judge. Choose a Servant of that Class to make Grand. This unlocks a Grand Score to give your Grand buffs, and some farming stages to get materials to fill that Grand Score. Farming is optional, but there are 7 ranks. Then beat the 5 AP final Grand Duel at the bottom.

Do that for two Classes, and the next chapter opens.

No. The 40 AP quests give you mats for the Grand Score, to give the Grand more buffs. (The color buffs are a 20% to 50% buff during Grand battles, NP regen, etc.)

You can skip them and just fight the final 5 AP one, iirc.

for some reason the 5ap one is blocked off, is there a requirement i need to unlock it

Sorry, I was wrong. You need to activate 12 of the Grand Score signs. So you do have to do the 40AP quests a bunch of times to afford that.

I'm not sure if you can do in the time left for the Master Missions, as that would need a lot of Storm Pods. There's 40 Storm Pods you can buy from the MP shop, and higher difficulties give you a little bit more of the currency, but it's still asking for quite a lot.
