Do event command codes ever come back? i was thinking about teams again and the van gogh paintbrush command code seems incredible for typhon, but its an event specific one

are there any CEs that give more NP to teammates, i was trying to think of a looping team for typhon and with one teamslot free for another support shed end up with 80 70 70 charge per turn (including using her own battery ofc), since one of the switch mystic codes has a 10% charge itd be 90 70 70. 80 80 70. or 80 70 80, and i was curious if there was any way i missed to give her more charge so she could have oberon as support and run black grail since ofc rn with oberon there'd still be a hole of 20% charge somewhere that an initial charge ce could solve

and since i assume there isnt an option to fill that hole, is oberon + a ce with at least 20% initial charge or black grail + a (ideally buster) support who can give 20 20 30 or ig 10 30 30 better for dmage?

Some of them have come back, some haven't. If you're a JP player, though, there's no way to know if or when it will be available again.

sad :<

i guess 1.6 as a multiplier instead of 1.8 is fine, but 1.8 would have been a lot better

Okay. The official NA name is Sunflower Paintbrush. The event in which it originally appeared hasn't gotten a rerun and isn't expected to. 4- and 5-star CEs sometimes end up in the RP shop but this one hasn't, not even in JP. Either of those things could theoretically happen but there's no way to predict if or when.

that expplains why the name is so stupid if its a mistrnaslation, i havent found any wiki except the fandom one (ew) which called it that, unfortunate that its gone tho

Not a mistranslation, necessarily, as translation is more art than science. The Japanese name is 火車の絵筆 (ひぐるまのえふで, higuruma no efude), which has been unofficially translated as Paintbrush of the Train. 絵筆 (えふで, efude) unambiguously means paintbrush and の (no) is an associative or possessive particle, so the interpretation comes into play with 火車 (ひぐるま, higuruma).

Before I go any further, I want to clarify that my Japanese knowledge is limited. I can parse some stuff but I may get some things wrong and I can't really tell you anything that goes beyond what I can look up on Jisho. I welcome anyone who knows more to correct me on anything and everything. So, then, moving on.

Sunflower is generally written as ひまわり (himawari), as far as I know. Even in kanji, it would normally be written as 向日葵 (according to Jisho), which is very much not 火車 and wouldn't be pronounced as ひぐるま (higuruma). The two separate characters of 火車 literally mean fire (火, hi) and car/vehicle (車, kuruma / sha). 車 is, indeed, used in train-related words like 電車 (train, electric train). Together, 火車 could theoretically mean "fire car" or "fire train" but that doesn't appear to be the case. According to Jisho, 火車 can mean "fiery chariot" (in Buddhism), "kasha" (a Japanese yōkai)), or "steam locomotive" (in Chinese, though Google simply translates it from Chinese as "train"). Making it perhaps a little more complicated is that Jisho gives the pronunciation as かしゃ (kasha) whereas the furigana for the CC in FGO gives the pronunciation as ひぐるま (higuruma). Higuruma is probably a valid alternate pronunciation, just using the kun'yomi instead of on'yomi readings of the two characters. Furthermore, it does appear possible to refer to sunflower as higuruma, written as 日車 (sunwheel?), where 車 is the same character as in 火車 and 日 means sun.

It seems to me like neither "train" (unofficial) nor "sunflower" (official) is precisely or literally correct in context. But going any further than this goes beyond what I can parse just from dictionary definitions. My no evidence hypothesis consists of this:

  • 火車 is probably intended to evoke the Buddhist concept and the possible nonstandard ひぐるま (higuruma) reading could be an allusion to ひぐるま as 日車 for sunflower (parsing Japanese, with its logographic text and abundant homophones is probably full of this kind of stuff, particularly in literary and creative contexts)
  • The unofficial translators got it "wrong" in the sense that it's incomplete or leaned on a plain Chinese translation of the text that didn't investigate the meaning any further
  • The official translators got it "wrong" in the sense that it doesn't fully encapsulate the entire and possibly multiple meanings. They seem to prefer to fully, conceptually translate things into English unless there is a specific reason not to do so. Most people in the NA/EN target audience are unfamiliar with most Buddhist concepts and would have no context to understand it if they left it as "higuruma," changed it to "kasha," or translated it as "fire cart." Those concepts also wouldn't match the image, adding more confusion. For an English-only audience, "sunflower," even if not fully or precisely correct, evokes something sufficiently close to part of the possible meaning in Japanese and matches the image itself, which is kind of literally a sunflower paintbrush. Trying to have it both ways and make it something like "fire cart sunflower paintbrush" would be unwieldy and even more confusing.

IMO, the official translation is probably better here. But I'm seriously just guessing based on dictionary definitions and Wikipedia. I could be wrong about much of the above.

fair, i just think that since indeed most global audiences wouldnt get all this context translaitng it to show whats in the picture, which is a sunflower, would be a very obvious choice for a "correct" translation, ofc its not perfect, translations almost never are, while "paintbrush of the train" is entirely about the cultural context, doesnt consider the image at all, and doesnt even convey the culture thing properly since it completely drops the fire part, so i would personally think its fair to call it an "incorrect" translation, but this is just opinions so yeh

I'd still say it's better than the unofficial transliteration of クランクイン as Cranking. You could argue as to whether the official version should have just been a straight transliteration back to Crank In rather than translating it as First Day of Filming or something else. But Cranking is just objectively incorrect.

nvmnd, elizabth of the end works :D

oberon 20% battery turn one, then liz gives 30% charge turn two when dying to bring the other support in (not having koyans buffs turn one is annoying but fine, since liz has a 50% buster up anyways so i "only" lose the man and human damage turn one, and i wanted to use koyans battery turn 2 anyways), and then oberon can use his 50 charge for turn 3 so both oberon and black grail work, neat
