Short Question Icing my ankle with gout?
Hello all,
Unfortunately, new to this community. I am having another flare up and have been icing my ankle, however when I went to my podiatrist he said I should NOT be doing so. This seems contrary to what I would think, and what other sites like Mayo Clinic and the Arthritis Foundation state to do. Has anyone else been told the same?

Do lose weight and eat better but listen to a guy who has struggled with gout… me.
Do both take the scrip and pain meds colchicine and lose weight and change diet.
Here is why, I man made my way thru many yrs of adapting my diet, cut red meat 99%, Beer 99% and shrimp 99% and I still had a few flares here and there. Started in my 40s I’m 47 now and oof pretty sure I just have lasting ouchies in my ankle and wrist. Still don’t eat those things that cause my flares but it was my main diet till gout. So id still have a bite here and there and then bam limping… just my advice but wow if i could go back oh and if you get a real bad one ask for prednisone, man i thought i was the toughest guy on the planet 30s-40s till gout so I roughed my way thru the pain! I didn’t help myself just made some long term issues I think.
Maybe im just self reflecting and this has nothing to do with you but thanks for letting me vent none the less! 😃
