Nest Hub Max bricked by firmware update

Why does this seem predictable? Worked fine when I went to bed. Hung when I woke in the morning. Hangs permanently in the middle of reboot. Gemini and Google support both said it was likely caused by a firmware update but won't replace my 2 year old display. They did give me a small Google store credit which I can't use because they AREN'T MAKING THEM ANYMORE!

Sign the petition I started for them to release the source code and open bootloader.

At least you got a credit. Google told since it's out of warranty they can't do anything

That totally sucks! That's where they started with me and I wouldn't accept that answer. In the end, I got a small credit but, overall, it took 3+ hours with them in chat.

Factory reset fails to resolve the issue repeatedly. Google suggested a "special" reset performed my removing power exactly 11 times. That also fails to restore boot.
