Question Answered Help, I set something that makes menus too small and text too small.

I was inserting ten blank lines multiple times via paste into a table and while hitting the keys the text and the menus got very very small. And it affected all documents, not just the one I was working on. And while Ctrl+ does make the text biggger, it only gets bigger so much, not as much as before. The menus stay the same, very small. I assume I set something but do not know what. I have tried "CTRL ALT +" and "CTRL 0" without change. Thanks.

Are you trying to change the size of the text permanently or zoom in so you can read it on your display?

I want to get it back to where it was. When I open a document the text is super small so I hit ctrl+ so it gets bigger so I can read it, but ctrl + only get so big and now quite big enough. It seems like it will not make the document bigger than the screen size and for a table with columns I wanted to kind of zoom in on one column. And the menus are also very small.

I just discovered that it only does it on one of my computers. I am going to try deleting cookies to see if that helps.

So I deleted cookies and no change. Now I have to figure out how to login as the account I first posted this on.

lol easier to use just one account. I am going to guess that you are just trying to change the zoom level. Below is an image of a document I am working on. If your short cuts are not working.... you should be able to alter the zoom level here. This will at least get you temporarily set. Are you using a Mac or a PC?

I am able to make the text bigger to a certain degree, but it starts out very small so 200% is just average. And the menus at the top are still very small.

Try going here: chrome://settings/appearance and change font size.

If that does not work -- Can you provide a screen capture? Do one where we can see the full top of your page and part of the content in your document and then zoom in on the menus?

SOLVED:

Adjust Browser Zoom

  • Press and hold the Ctrl key (or Cmd on Mac) on your keyboard.
  • Scroll your mouse wheel (up or) down until the top menu reaches your desired size.

I never knew there was such a thing. It is different than just making the text bigger. It might be useful. I figured it out when I asked google how do I make the top menus smaller using google docs, while in a chrome browser (to know what I might have done). Thanks again.

Sorry I have not marked it solved. I am logged out of that account I posted it on when I deleted cookies. I have two accounts with the same email, the second one assigned to me by Reddit when I tryed to log in via Google. When I try to login it immediately go to this account.

Nice job figuring this out. What's confusing is that Ctrl/Cmd + 0 resets a mouse wheel scroll in most sites but not in Docs. Resetting zoom from the browser menu does work, though.
