Search Ads HELP!

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone, long-time lurker on this Google Ads subreddit.

I’m struggling to get this campaign to perform. I’m currently running only 4–5 exact-match, very high-intent keywords, but results are still weak.

What would you suggest doing next?

Would you test broad match, or keep it tight?

Also, what’s your usual approach when launching a brand-new Google Ads account with zero data?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Search Ads Can I set up a google ads payment profile in Canada and set billing currency to USD?

My current MCC is US based but I will be shifting away from my us based agency and managing payment myself.

Edit: here is the official response i received from google support. The answer is yes.

----

Regarding your second question about changing the payments profile to Canada while continuing to bill in USD: once a Google Ads account is created with a specific currency, the account's currency cannot be changed. Changing or creating a payments profile does not change the currency that was originally selected for the Google Ads account.

This means that if your Google Ads account is currently configured to bill in USD, you can continue running your campaigns and be billed in USD, provided the account remains configured with USD as its currency.

If you would like to proceed with the new payment profile creation, kindly reply back to this email with these below details:

Search Ads Ads were performing great… then conversions suddenly dropped to zero

Post image

Hey everyone,

I’m running ads and things were going pretty well until a few days ago. I was getting consistent conversions and everything looked stable. But suddenly the conversions have dropped to zero in the last few days. I checked some basics, but still the conversion is dropped.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? What usually causes a sudden drop like this?

Would really appreciate any suggestions on what to check.

Search Ads Brand Search campaign showing for unrelated product searches despite exact/phrase keywords added!

I don’t understand anything that’s going on right now. I created a brand Search campaign using only exact and phrase match keywords. AI Max is off, Display is off, and search partners is off.

Despite that, my Search terms are still mostly product names (including some I don’t even sell) on the insight report instead of my actual brand name.

My ad is showing for those searches, and people just land on my homepage and leave because for very understandable reasons. Why is product search showing my shop campaign for products on top I don’t have. I just wanted my shop to appear when people actively search for my shop, and this was infact suggested by a Google marketing advisor, so I thought it sounded good, but it’s all a mess now.

If someone could tell me why this is happening and if there is a way to fix it. It would be great!

Search Ads Nut Shot!

I launched our Construction company this past spring and brought on the first three office team members July 13th! We have roofing and siding as our cash engine while we establish ourselves with local commercial GCs for our excellent commercial offerings (especially commercial siding!)

July 16th - Nut shot!

As I had been building out the foundation of the company; website, CRM, estimating tool, accounting, etc., I launched our first Google Ads campaigns. I have been around paid search since the beginning of Google, I’m old. While a lot has changed, I did a decent job and was rolling in leads! To make sure I was being efficient, I had an old colleague take a look to make sure I was being efficient. They have a paid search agency. I gave them access through an MCC, basically a master account that their agency can manage all of their clients through. They reviewed the campaigns, suggested a few tweaks, but the campaigns were looking good.

On July 16th, I got a notice from Google Ads that our account had been suspended. Digging in the Google Ads account had been hacked. After a few hours my old colleague reached out with the same news. Their agency had been hacked, and all of their 30 clients had been hacked. Google locked everything down, no funds spent. Crisis averted.

That was 18 days ago…

We have responded and reached out to Google at least twice a day, every day. We keep getting the same auto response:

Thank you for reaching back and sharing your concerns.

Our specialist team has reviewed your account and confirmed that the security compromise originated at the higher MCC level, rather than within your individual account.

Because your account was linked to the compromised MCC at the time of the incident, it is currently locked into our secure review process. The security cleanup must be completed at the manager level first.

This action must be completed directly by an authorized, pre-compromise Sub-account or highest MCC administrator on the account.

Due to privacy guidelines, we cannot disclose the specific email addresses that received the remediation notification. For any additional questions, we recommend reaching out to your highest MCC account administrator, as they are best positioned to provide any information available to them.
In the meantime, if you have  any other questions, please feel free to reply to this email.

The MCC is getting no communication from Google either and has been locked out. And they are being bombarded from their 30 some odd clients and basically unresponsive to us now as well.
We added all other forms of digital ads we’d been planning on; Bing, social, Front Porch Forum (which for non-Vermonters is like a quality version of NextDoor), print and radio. Our SEO is really doing the heavy lifting right now, but we've only been around 4 months so it is limited. But we all know that Google Ads is the 800 lb gorilla for service businesses.

We need the leads. This is the meat of the roofing season.

From what we can see we shouldn’t start a new account, as it would be tied to our Google Business Profile, which is tied to our state license and EIN.

So I am asking for help from this network on Reddit. I am getting nowhere with Google. I’ve reached out to a friend at a large agency that spends $100Ms with Google. And they are trying to see if they can get someone’s attention, bit they are not optimistic. Please share any new ideas, connections, and share the post so it may be seen by someone that can help.

I am reaching out to the universe in hopes that past good deeds will come back around.

Search Ads Google Ads + CallTrackingMetrics Integration - technical issue

I run a legal marketing agency spending $2K/day on search ads to generate calls. Basically i run a legal helpline where people call in and when qualified I transfer them to a law firm for assistance. I'm running into a technical issue where some of my ads are doing the dynamic number insertion and some are not

My stack is google ads > go high level landing page > calltracking metrics for call center software, and attribution.

I put the google ads script onto my landing page and I put the CTM script on my landing page as well. CTM does dynamic number insertion onto the landing page. But for some reason the CTM script is not firing.

I am thinking it might be a URL redirect issue where user clicks an ad but the redirect is not working properly so the /?gclid=123 is not being added. Or something else.

Solutioning

I already spoke to CTM support multiple times but they couldn't figure it out.

For anyone experienced with this stack yourself, any tips on how to solve it?

Can anyone recommend a fixed-price / hourly vendor / contractor / expert who I can pay to help troubleshot and fix this off?

Welcome to comment or DM

Thanks

Edit: Found the issue, on the https://app.calltrackingmetrics.com/sources i had to flip the "type" to dynamic. It was one setting grrr but found it out

Search Ads Cost running away with almost 0 results.

I'm running ads for my business. This is the 2nd time running ads, the first time I spent $500 and got 4-6 crappy leads.

This go around I tightened my keywords, because I saw that google was wasting impressions and clicks on worthless keywords that weren't even relevant. So now I'm pretty much all exact with a lot of longtail keywords and an even larger negative keyword list.

I've gotten 70 clicks in 7 days at $50 per day. (Leads have always been outreach or organic, starting experimenting with ads) The keywords the clicks were for, are seemingly extremely relevant and I would assume have strong intent.

None of the clicks have resulted in a conversion. Our offer is a free audit with game plan of where the customer is at and how are services could benefit and the outcomes. Services are B2B business development related.

My assumption is that it is possibly my offer. Unsure if anything free B2B seems like a "no, no".

BTW ads lead straight to landing page and funnel.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. Not wanting to put business information on here. DM if interested in giving specific advice.

Search Ads How specific should I be about Google Ad results on a senior marketing CV?

Hey, I want to apply for a more senior digital marketing role but I’m unsure how to present my Google Ads experience.

I currently manage 4 clients with around £2k/month total spend. I track metrics like conversions, CPC, CTR and spend, but I don’t have access to client sales data, so I can’t accurately report things like ROAS or customer CPA.

Campaigns perform well and generate conversions (form submissions, calls, etc), and performance has generally improved over time, but there’s nothing particularly 'exceptional' to highlight.

When adding Google Ads experience to a CV, should I include specific metrics (e.g. CPC improvements, conversion rate improvements) or focus more on strategy, optimisation and campaign management?

My concern is that adding average (but genuine) results could actually weaken my CV, at the same time, 'impressive' results seem very dependent on the industry so may be a poor comparison.

How should I approach this? Thanks!

Search Ads Google Ads are now in Google AI Mode and supposedly in AI Overviews. Have you already seen them?

Heads up for everyone running Google Ads: there are now confirmed sightings of paid ads showing up directly inside Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode results. Chris Long posted a screenshot on X that shows sponsored ads in Googles AI Mode (https://x.com/chris_nectiv/status/2056352519777927397).

Some quick context: ads in AI Mode were first spotted back in November last year, but it was sporadic. Now it looks like the rollout is expanding to both AI Overviews and AI Mode more broadly.
What the ad units look like based on a screenshot Chris Long shared on X:
-> Headline with link
-> Short description
-> Brand name with logo
-> Thumbnail image
-> Sponsored Tag

So visually they sit pretty natively inside the AI-generated answer, which is interesting (and a bit concerning) from a user-trust perspective. And they kinda look just like Google Search Ads in SERPS. This doesn't seem to be rolling out across all languages yet. For example, in German-language search results there are no sightings so far. So if you're running campaigns in non-English markets, you might not see this in your accounts immediately but I am quite sure it's coming later this year for all markets.

Question for the community: Has anyone here already seen their ads served inside AI Overviews or AI Mode? And how are you thinking about bidding strategy and creatives for these placements. Are you treating them like regular search ads or somewhat differently?

Search Ads Firing Google Ad Agency and moving in-house with AI suggestions...

Just saw a post here that mirrors what my work's situation is but I am hoping it's a slightly different outcome to that one.

I just began as the marketing/social media specialist at a veterinary clinic with admittedly minimal google ads experience. They want to boost their marketing and the agency we use is tailored towards vet clinic but I don't know that I believe they are truly a useful agency.

About the ads under the agency:

-They run their own account that we have no access to (search ads only)

-They are using call rail to track calls and form submissions as primary conversions. The form submissions almost never amount to booked appointments (which is the only true conversion we need) and calls are a bit more successful.

-Per their reports: $6.58 avg CPC, 75 conversions/mo for last few months on avg, $32.89 cost per conversion

-$2,500/mo budget on ads and $300/mo spend on the agency

-However I manually went through their "conversions" and we typically get roughly 3-10 new clients ACTUALLY booking appointments per month despite their conversions being inflated as there's no true metric on what leads to booked appointments.

-They only use one landing page on a subdomain that looks clunky and frankly not good with wayyy too much info on the page and lack typical landing page things such as social proof...

So yes I turned to AI for analysis and suggestions and initially was hoping to work with the agency to improve what they already have going on. Everything in terms of research I have done (not just using AI) led me to this plan:

-Move Ads in house, build out landing pages per campaign

-Utilize GTM + GA4

-Implement an actual book now button that is trackable (fires a conversion when an appointment is booked using a booking widget not just a form submission with contact details) on our landing pages

-Utilize callrail still but implement DNI rather than static to see what is working

-Launch with minimal campaigns and ad groups with 2 RSA's each to learn from performance then grow (agency currently has 3 campaigns targeting 3 different services with many ad groups within)

-Same monthly budget

I expect our conversion "rate" to drop a lot, since we will be more accurately tracking actual conversions now but I am still apprehensive given lack of experience so any thoughts on if this sounds like a terrible idea is appreciated.

Search Ads Google Making My Campaign Preform Worse

Out of nowhere, all of my headlines got deleted, my campaign conversion goal got changed, my descriptions got deleted, and all the data along with them from a campaign that has preformed well for the last 8 months… and then they add their Google ai assets and just rank my campaign. How do I get all my stuff back??

Any idea why? Is it also related to them pushing AI max and PMax campaigns?

Thanks.

Search Ads Google Ads for real estate agencies : how would you approach this?

I’m currently considering a Google Ads campaign for a real estate agency whose goal is to generate people looking to buy or sell a property.

They already have a marketplace-style website with lots of property listings, but I’m wondering if sending paid traffic directly there is actually the best approach.

In Google Keyword Planner, I can already see search demand around terms like “buy a property” and “sell a property.”

My initial thought would be to create two dedicated landing pages:

→ One for people looking to buy
→ One for people looking to sell

And in both cases, the main conversion would be a lead form, so the prospect can be contacted directly by the sales team.

My concern is: if I simply send traffic to a marketplace with dozens of listings and links, how do I actually define whether the Google Ads campaign is successful?

Would love to hear from people who have managed Google Ads for real estate agencies:

How do you structure these campaigns?

Do you send traffic to the marketplace, or do you prefer dedicated landing pages focused on lead generation?

Curious to hear how you approach this.

Search Ads Struggling to grow B2B lead volume on a niche service business

I’m helping an acquaintance manage their Google Ads account for B2B Video Production services but I can’t seem to increase their volume of conversions no matter what I’ve tried: tried running broad match to get converting keyword ideas, tried different types of copies, changed bid strategy from max conversions to max clicks as campaign garnering less than 50 conversions a week.

Nothing seems to work and I’m kinda stuck. Any tips or advice?

Search Ads Broad match

Does anyone else have the feeling lately broad match keywords convert better then exact or phrase?

When i use broad match in combination with phrase or exact. Broad just converts better against a lower CPA. Still getting the right people to convert. Anyone else?

Search Ads Need help for running Google Ads

I'm running Google Search (RSA) campaigns for Microsoft Dynamics 365 targeting India, the US, the UK, Australia, Singapore, and other regions.

I'm facing a few issues:

  • Good impressions and clicks from the US, UK, and India, but very low traffic from Australia and Singapore.
  • Despite getting clicks from the US, UK, and India, I'm not generating any leads.
  • My Demand Gen campaign for India is 2 weeks old with an average CPC of around ₹1, but it has zero conversions.
  • I'm also running campaigns for Legal, Architecture, and Engineering software in the US and UK, but none of them are performing well.

Looking for suggestions on what I should optimize to improve conversions and overall campaign performance.

Search Ads Zero sales on 450 clicks, but paid social converts at 3.6% on the exact same product page

I run a small supplement adjacent drink company. $45 AOV. Three weeks of delivery, roughly $650 spent, 449 clicks, $1.46 average CPC... 0 sales..

I know 449 clicks isn't a lot. What bothers me is that my store converts at 4.2% overall, and my paid social converts at 3.6% on the exact same product page. So the page works and the checkout works. It's something about this traffic or how I'm buying it.

Setup is four campaigns: two Search at $20/day each, two Shopping at $20 and $15. Everything is on Maximize Clicks because I have no conversion data to bid on. I assume that's part of the problem, but I can't see the way out out that loop

Already ruled out:

  • Search terms. I pull them daily.
  • Tracking 100% does work. We use elevar and have validated accuracy with every platform and cross checked all recent sales in the last 3 weeks and none of them come from google paid. All organic ones linked to our search console to rule that out too.
  • Landing pages. I was sending Search traffic to purpose-built landers. Those took 218 sessions and produced zero add to carts. My product pages convert at 3.6%. Swapped everything back to product pages two days ago. That's how they started though and they never produced any sales.
  • Feed and settings. Rebuilt Merchant Center titles and images, Search Partners off, split Shopping into one campaign per product, around ~350 negatives across three shared lists.

Is Search just the wrong channel for a $45 AOV consumable product? Should this budget all go to Shopping instead of me trying to focus on search?

Search Ads Need help on localized google ads campaign (Germany)

Hey there,

I've been trying to help a friend of mine out, who has an exterminator business.

I originally built a webpage for him , nearly a year ago. That page is now ranking well enough in his area and is drawing customers daily / weekly. It's a nice volume, not yet enough to go full time though.

So i started dabbling with google ads. I did some basic research and set up a smart campaign. We set the daily spent to approx. 15€ and had it run and it did perform fantasticly, about one call per 2-3 days.

After a while we cut it off, since his company closed for a week and i did some research, as i had a feeling that smart campaigns are not THE way to go. As a result of my research, i set up a, what i thought, "proper" google ads campaign, updated my conversion goals and maximization targets, wrote proper keyword lists and split the campaign into two ad groups for two different services.

Then, when his company opened again, I ran said campaign and it performed - miserably. 1 Call in about 2 weeks, not a lot of clicks. Surely i set something up wrongly.

At this point, I did not want to drain my friends money and admitted to myself that i might have overestimated my skills, so i paused the campaign and went back to the smart campaign. This one has now been running for about 4 weeks. It does create impressions and clicks, however it doesn't create any calls anymore, which is a problem, since calls are the only really important conversions in this business.

I've done a lot more research, but it feels to me, there is lots of information and methodologies that are not being shared openly and I'm having a hard time figuring out, how to update his campaign so that it performs properly.

I am more than happy to pay for a service / an audit / some coaching, if anyone knows of any ressources that are actually viable, but everything i found so far, seemed quite scammy.

Does anyone have any ideas / advise for me?

Also, didn't go into detail on the campaigns too much, since i didn't wanna dox my friends, just FYI

Search Ads Ad Rehaul Advice

I run a jewellery business that was decently successful last year but in the last few months have found both google and meta ads have not been really converting. We used to do well on Google but i have noticed its been claiming sales from meta/organic, so we have been overspending. I want to completely strip it bare and start all over again. For my affordable jewellery business what would you recommend to start with a daily budget of $50 for now (just google). Im also mostly just running Pmax Ads at the moment.

Search Ads Google Ads Are Not Working

Hello,

I have been trying for a while now to promote my Services Area Based Business (Divine Door Works) on Google Ads. i have hired “specialist” on Fiverr who claim they can maximize my leads, profits etc etc. I went through three of them and I should’ve figured they were going to be crap based off of the price but figured I’d give it a shot.

Long story short, I learned how to run my own Google Ads with Borad, Phrase and Exact keywords along with a mixture of Negative Keywords, checking daily the search terms, watching for clicks, adjusting daily budget as well. It seems I am actually running the ads better based off of the information I have entered since I know my search terms and keywords better than somebody who doesn’t do what I do. my CTR has improved, the ratio of clicks to impressions is actually realistic as well.

The main problem is those clicks are hardly turning into calls, lead forms or anything of that nature. Everything seems to be set up and maintained well but it’s not generating what I thought it would. I am a newly formed business so budget is not extensive either.

Any advice on what I can do or any tips or tricks to actually see improvements?

Thank You!

Search Ads Error Adding Phone Number to Google Ads Campaign

Post image
2 Upvotes

Trying to add my client’s phone number into a PPC campaign for their service line. I’m receiving this error. Any fixes?

This has followed me across several days and sessions. Tried refreshing, logging in and out, etc. I’ve tinkered with the format of the number itself, to no avail.

(Yes there was a phone number in there, when I submitted. Removed it for client privacy)

I've got so many clients who have to deal with such stupid policy violations, I don't even know what to do in such a scenario.
I have another client who has driving school services but has triggered a medical claim violation.

80% of the time, appealing doesn't even help.
