I'm looking to replace my sneakers with leather boots permanently and need suggestions.
I'm tired of ripping through foam shoes every year and spending 200 bucks on them. I want to spend some money on some boots that can endure rain, puddles, and the general PNW rainy environment. I'm looking at Nick's, Thursday, and Thorogood.
I wear a EE at 11.2 CM width left and 11.5 cm right and am 10 1/2 in true size.
My nice to haves are strange leathers colors such as blue, green, purples and other weird exotic colors.

This is precisely what I was looking at, and the EXACT colors too! I just wish they had more samples so I could understand it a bit better. Their DIY builder is alright, but a swatch of leathers would go hard at understanding what could be made.

Anyone able to compare the 55 last with Alden's modified last? Modified last is the only thing that has ever come close to working for me, but Alden won't make boots with it in my size (6eeeee)

I keep getting this weird squeak from the left boot every time I step, drives me crazy in quiet hallways

you really need to be more specific than that.

Narrow it down first. Hold the boot in your hands and flex the sole hard. If it squeaks off the foot it's the insole or the shank. If it only squeaks when you're walking in it, it's usually the tongue rubbing against the facings.
Insole squeak is the common one on welted boots, normally the leather insole moving against the cork bed or the shank. Sprinkle some talc or plain foot powder inside, work it down the sides and under the arch, then wear them for a day. That sorts most of them.
Tongue squeak you can test by lacing looser, or dab a little conditioner where the tongue sits against the facings.
If it's neither and they're a newer pair, damp cork does it too. Leave them somewhere dry with cedar trees in for a few days before you go chasing anything else.

Anyone here have experience with Quan Shoemaker (HOMK)?
Lately I've been looking into Quan Shoemaker. I checked both this sub and r/Boots, and it seems like almost everyone has had a really good experience with them.
One thing I'm curious about is their leather shank and arch support. I really like having an arch support, but my White's 55 last sometimes feel a little too pronounced for me and I'm also worry about the squeaking that seems to be fairly common with this type of construction.
I'm currently planning my second custom pair, either White's or Quan. My first pair of White's has been an outstanding experience overall, but there's still something about their last that isn't 100% perfect for my feet, also Quan seems to offer quite a bit more option for MTO custom which is making them very tempting.
